Summary: Built in 1928 one block from Lake Michigan, this exquisite 4 BR/3 BA has been meticulously turned into a modern luxury residence. Includes reclaimed flooring throughout; custom doors, lighting & hardware; open kitchen-DR-LR area featuring huge French windows, original glass-block & many seating options for dining. The LR has a stone fireplace w/ wide-screen TV. A 2nd-flr sleeping loft has "full" bunkbeds. BonExquisite uses = a posh, detached garage game room, furnished patio & landscaped stone courtyard. The Space: Classy, awe-inspiring and sumptuous, this 4 BR/3 BA vacation home, located just a block from Lake Michigan in what is known as “Harbor Country,” was formerly a local retail gathering place. Having recently been painstakingly refurbished into a stunning residential home, it includes gorgeous reclaimed flooring from antique beams throughout, custom doors, light fixtures and hardware, as well as top of the line plumbing fixtures. The kitchen-dining room-living room area—a massive, superbly well-lit space—features entire walls of French windows, original glass-block and a wide array of seating options for meals: 4 chic stools at the white marble island, 4 leather seats around a circular marble coffee table, and a 10-seat reclaimed wood dining table. The beautifully-lit living room has at its center a classic stone fireplace, stylish (yet ultra-comfortable) couches and chairs, and a wide-screen TV. Besides the three BRs and baths on the ground floor, there’s also a second-floor sleeping loft, perfect for kids, as it has bunkbeds (w/ full mattress) and a real (mini-)teepee. Another “extra” is the detached garage, which has been turned into a posh game room, with high-end shuffleboard and foosball tables, a big-screen TV and a sound system. The exterior—which includes a spacious covered patio with cozy rattan couch & chairs and a 4-seat dining table, leading out to a blue stone courtyard—has been extensively landscaped with lush plantings, trees and professional lighting. Includes high-end kitchen & laundry appliances. The Neighborhood: Just 75 miles from downtown Chicago, New Buffalo/Lakeside is the gateway to Michigan and a historic Lake Michigan beach town. There are plenty of shops, places to eat, and recreational offerings. Beyond the legacy of summer fun, find a community of hosts and creatives sharing their love of art, culture, and craft throughout the year. New Buffalo is also the location for Southwestern Michigan’s first gambling casino, the Four Winds Casino Resort, and Silver Creek Event Center – the place for concerts featuring headliner entertainment plus conferences and special events. Getting Around: We highly recommend a personal vehicle to get around and explore the local area. There is an Amtrak Station in New Buffalo (225 North Whittaker St.) that offers service to Chicago, as well as Ann Arbor and Detroit. The South Shore Line, another option for a day trip to Chicago, stops in Michigan City, IN about 15 minutes’ drive from the house. We will provide you with a helpful virtual guide prior to check-in that showcases a comprehensive list of area eateries, attractions, parks and more. Other Things to Note: While we understand that events can affect your trip, it is our policy to stick to the agreed upon cancellation policy in the listing. We recommend purchasing a vacation travel insurance policy if you suspect that you will need to cancel your vacation. Please note that Juniper Holiday & Home does not offer discount pricing.
