Welcome to Stonelea. You have the exclusive use of our luxury, modern apartment ,occupying the third storey of our spacious Victorian family home. It has a separate, private entrance via the side garden. We have taken care to create a home from home with every amenity provided for your convenience. Please tell us anything that we can arrange in terms of special occasions or just to personalise your visit. Hopefully , you will have a perfect stay , arrive as guests & return as friends. Stonelea was built in 1890 from traditional red brick and Aberdeen Rubislaw granite and it is a substantial family home set in beautiful grounds . Within your apartment there is a very large, airy lounge, overlooking the 1/5-acre landscaped gardens with the huge green canopy of trees which are conserved as part of the original Victoria gardens area of the old town of Blyth. There are two leather sofas , a leather comfort chair and foot stool, a modern oak desk and skandi style chair ( useful as a work station ), compact fold away dining table for six persons, media unit which houses a 60inch smart TV , C.D and video player with a collection of literally hundreds of DVDs to keep you occupied if a rainy day stops play or a duvet day is called for. The roomy, family bedroom has a double bed, two full size single beds plus a beautiful dressing table with an ornate mirror and a view out to the garden. There is a wardrobe for storage and extras include a multi-point extension cable and hair dryer. The second bedroom is a spacious twin bedroom with small dressing table and drawers. There is a good-sized family bathroom with bath, sink and shower facilities. The Kitchen is fully fitted with all of the appliances that you might expect for everyday living and if you spot that anything is missing, then we are more than happy to provide it if we can! A washing machine and separate dryer is also included in the apartment , at no extra charge. If travelling with babies or small infants we can provide a baby bath, travel cot and mattress , hooded towel, highchair, baby monitor, child-friendly tableware/cutlery, and cups. We can include all equipment or only what you need, let us know when booking. To cater for your particular combination of guests and sleeping arrangements we can provide an additional Z-bed or mattresses and bedding ,as required. For larger groups or families, we may also be able to offer additional double rooms with en-suite in the main house, depending upon availability once all COVID regulations have been lifted. The only occupants of the apartment or elsewhere in the property should be those that have been confirmed as guests at the time of booking. Our warm welcome will always include tea, coffee and milk and home- made cakes or biscuits to make you feel at home as soon as you arrive after your journey. The gardens: The door to the apartment ( which you can lock for privacy and security ) leads directly down the stairs to the rear private garden with decked patio, table & chairs and a double swing seat. There is also an Asian style buddha garden to the side with tropical planting , temple bells and wind chimes and a large range of patio furniture including a hanging egg chair and a half moon pond which is stocked with fish . This is our happy place which is set up to provide pure relaxation , especially at night, as we have provided hanging electric bulb lighting both there and at the rear of the garden and using the chimenea and throws there is no need to go to bed early. Watch the stars and unwind. The garden also has a three tier stone fountain which can be switched on as a pleasant backdrop if your family are enjoying time in this area of the garden. BBQ facilities are provided. At the front of the property there is an enormous play area with a tree house and at the base is a smaller play house for very young children with a mini kitchen and , garden toys, including a sit in, pull along car and tractor. There are two separate, three-station play frames, with a combination of swing seats, pull up bars, baby seat , tandem swing and slide attachments . There is a climbing frame and a large trampoline with safety net . There is guaranteed to be something for children of all ages. Adjacent to this is a decking with patio furniture where adults can relax whilst supervising their children. We provide a fully waterproof 3X3m gazebo and furniture for your stay. Whilst we are operating under COVID restrictions we hope this allows you to enjoy the outdoor space and if you do have friends and family in the area, then they will be welcome in this space, in line with current COVID rules. Leading from this decking area you can follow a pathway through our beautiful English rose garden which is stocked with a huge variety of Austin scented old roses. Its is a gorgeous spot to sit in with the scents and colours of summer . The roses’ scent is especially lovely first thing in the morning or early evening. On the opposite of the garden is another decking with furniture and water feature and behind is a small patio which houses a gazebo with an easy spa hot tub which can be booked at an additional modest cost as part of a special package with spa robes, chocolates and sparkling wine and other special features . Please ask us for further details so we can advise costs and personalise this treat. Your stay also automatically includes access to our games room with a large pool table and darts board which is usually available between the hours of 9am to 9pm. We can be flexible around these hours, by arrangement. The patio doors from the games room lead directly to the buddha garden , creating an enjoyable social space. Accessibility - There is a flat pathway and small step ups from the lawn or pathways to some of the decked areas in the garden. All rooms in the flat are on the same level but as there are stairs to the third floor to access the apartment and so the property would be unsuitable for anyone with mobility issues as we do not have a passenger lift in situ. We have a large drive, which can take 5+ cars, with secure parking for all guests. .We also have lockable buildings for cycles. Guests have separate access to apartment via guest garden. You will usually be met personally on arrival but in case that is not possible we will arrange key collection via the safe box near the entrance to the apartment. We are excited to welcome guests, and will be available to provide information and help to signpost you to places of interest, too help make your stay enjoyable. We have access to local buses and metro from Whitley Bay. This is a perfect base for exploring all of Northumberland prime historic sites and breath taking landscape with the coastline and the many beaches, castles, forests and rivers . This award winning county is regularly described as the jewel in the Country's heritage and tourism crown. We have many personal recommendations that we can make but a good starting point is to explore the 'visit northumberland' web site to give you some great ideas, to get the most out of your trip. Once the car is parked up, its good to know that we are situated directly behind a quiet part of the high street and so restaurants and pubs are only a short stroll away. We are close by the A19 and A1 which are the main local gateways to all of the major travel routes. You can walk to the beautiful beach, with its award-winning fish and chips and ice cream parlour and WW11 Battery and museum , in 15 minutes from the front of the house and a similar length drive will take you to the gorgeous, neighbouring, coastal towns of Cullercoats, Whitley Bay and Tynemouth. The Quayside and Ridley Park with its Cafe, Lawn Bowls, Tennis Courts, Children's Play Areas, Splash/Water Park, and Cycle paths are 10 minutes stroll away from the house. There are festivals & events held throughout year in & around Blyth. Great central location to explore Northumberland & the Coast. Safety: The apartment has been fully risk assessed with a fire plan in place. There are fire blankets and fire extinguisher in the apartment and the electrical items have been PAT tested. Carbon monoxide and standard smoke alarms are in place as well as a first aid box and emergency contact instructions. Covid-19 Clean: we are committed to your safety and have signed up to Airbnb’s new cleaning regime.
