Old farm in the heart of Flanders

Described by many guests as 'a haven of calm', this spacious and well-equipped flat is set in a vast tree-filled garden where you can sit in the shade and enjoy a drink or a barbecue. The flat has three large double bedrooms, a sitting area, a private bathroom with shower and la large airy kitchen. Entry is via an outside staircase and guests can come and go as they please. Breakfast (croissants, coffee, butter and jam, awaits guests each morning. Many people think of the North of France as industrial, but this part of Flanders is very much in the country. You'll find you get an excellent night's sleep as no cars go past. The flat contains a large kitchen with all the basics in the fridge. Croissants and bread are supplied every day for your breakfast. There's a living area with two sofas, a TV, wifi access, board games and tourist information. The bathroom, overlooking the garden, has a shower, wash-hand basin, toilet, and piles of towels. There are three large bedrooms each with a comfortable double bed and writing table. In one of the rooms you'll find a baby's cot (forup to 3 years old) If necessary, a small bedroom with twin beds can be made available The garden is vast with tables for eating (or drinking) outside, and the is plenty of space for parking. The flat is self-contained. The North of France is an industrial region, but my house is in the heart of the country, just next to a wood, and surrounded by a vast garden full of trees, where you can sit out for a drink or just to read a book. No cars go past, so it's very quiet. Guests say they get a great sleep! The nearest shops are in Hazebrouck, 10 kilometres away. Within an hour's drive are the towns of Lille, Ypres (Belgium) and Calais, and also the beaches of Dunkirk, la Panne, Gravelines , Wimereux and Audreselles. There is ample room for parking (even for vans) and I would say it's totally safe. Two small flats are available for couples or single travellers. You'll find them on the site : ' Bird's nest' and 'Haven of Peace' . Please book these in preference for fewer than 3 guests; this enables me to keep the large flat for families and larger groups.
