The Old Dairy, a rural Norfolk hideaway

For over a hundred years, this characterful old dairy was where the cows were milked at Hawthorn Farm. Sympathetically and luxuriously converted into a two-bedroom cottage in 2017, it is self-contained and completely detached. Inside, original walls, beams and vaulted ceilings give it a spacious, airy feel. It has its own fully-equipped kitchenette, and a bathroom with a large shower, WC and basin. The spacious 18 x 14 foot carpeted living space has two huge comfy sofas and a table and chairs. Tharston is a small, very quiet and picturesque farming village - you can really appreciate the big Norfolk sky here. It offers lovely walks along the Tas Valley, so it's perfect for a rural getaway. If you are looking for peaceful rest, this is an ideal place. Nearest shops, all amenities and several take-aways are in Long Stratton, the nearest village, 1.5 miles away. Tharston is just off the A140, nine miles from the medieval city of Norwich, five miles to the small market towns of Bungay and Wymondham and under 30 miles from the many beautiful beaches and walks of the Norfolk coast. The Dairy is entirely self-contained and has ample off-road parking, and large windows look out across the host house's rambling garden. On the other side of the garden, you can enjoy meeting our pigs and hens - you are welcome to collect eggs for your breakfast. Guests may use the space directly in front of the cottage in fine weather - there are a table and chairs. Access is via a single, shallow step from the gravel drive; there are no internal steps or ledges and the cottage floor is either wood or carpet. There is WiFi and a digital radio but no TV; please bring your laptop or tablet. Towels are provided and there are feather duvets and Egyptian cotton linen for luxurious comfort. There is one double bedroom, and another with a king-size bed. Both beds and mattresses are new. There is a smoke alarm and a carbon monoxide detector alarm for safety. Controllable, electric radiators are throughout. The shower room has a controllable heated towel rail. The cottage is completely separate from, and situated a short distance from, my house (a thatched farmhouse) but, if I am in, I would be very happy to offer advice about local places to eat, walk and shop. If you need any assistance, I am nearby, but I entirely respect your privacy. A Key Safe situated near the front door means that guests can arrive and depart as they please on the given dates of their stay. The code to retrieve the key is supplied via message on the day of arrival. Check in is between 4 and 11pm, and check out is before 11am. If guests need to arrive earlier than 4pm, or leave later than 11am, please message me and I will try to facilitate this, if other bookings aren't impacted. An iron and a hairdryer are provided, as are tea and coffee, nibbles and milk in the fridge. The kitchen cupboard is well stocked with essentials - just help yourself. There is no smoking, and the cottage is not suitable for pets or parties and events. Covid-19: I follow Airbnb's five steps for enhanced cleaning and wear both gloves and mask. There are extra supplies of disposable paper towel, antibacterial spray cleaner, hand soap, and hand sanitiser provided should guests wish to use them.
