Characterful cottage in peaceful Normandy village
Nestled in the picturesque village of La Ferriere aux Etangs in rural Normandy close to the medieval city of Domfront and spa town of Bagnoles de L'Orne, our delightful cottage consists of an open plan ground floor living / dining area with 2 ensuite double bedrooms on the middle & top floors. The house is full of rustic charm. Enjoy fresh warm croissants in the morning from the boulangerie next door. There are other village shops a few steps away. There is a small fishing lake nearby. Our terraced stone built cottage has been sympathetically restored and refurbished. The open plan ground floor has a fireplace with a wood-burning stove and a fully fitted kitchen with fridge, electric cooker and washer/drier. It has a comfortable sitting area and diner. The first floor has a double bedroom with en suite luxury bathroom. The top floor has a second double bedroom with an en suite bathroom with shower. The property will comfortably sleep up to 4 people. It has electric storage heating and double glazing throughout. There is free convenient parking approximately 75m away although you can stop outside to unload your luggage. You will have access to the entire property Our local English speaking agents will meet you on your arrival and let you into the property. You can contact them during your stay in the event that you have any problems that you cannot resolve for yourself The cottage is situated in a quiet picturesque village that has a fishing lake (licence required) and most basic amenities. The village is 10km from medieval Domfront, 10km from Flers and just a short car journey from Bagnoles de L'Orne and La Ferte Mace. The village is close to a rugged hilly area called Suisse Normande and it is great for cycling. There are limited options for public transport. A car is essential. There are lovely places and historic sites nearby to visit. These include Bayeux where you can view its famous tapestry depicting the Battle of Hastings and the Normandy beaches where allied troops landed on D-Day. A visit to historic Falaise is a must and the pretty towns of Lisieux and Rouen. Slightly further away, Mont St Michel can be reached by car and Monet's home at Givernie is well worth a visit. Smell the alluring aroma of fresh bread, croissants and cakes in the morning from the village boulangerie-patisserie which is next door. There is a well stocked supermarket, butcher, a bank, a pharmacy, a pleasant bar and a post office close by. Enjoy the quiet ambience of the village and the lovely birdsong in the evenings.
