The Roost, self contained annex in Lodsworth
The annexe is located in the charming village of Lodsworth, close to the towns of Midhurst & Petworth (with its plentiful antique shops). Very convenient for Cowdray Polo and all the Goodwood festivals. The sandy beaches of The Witterings are only a 45 mins drive away. The village has a lovely pub and shop stocking local produce and all of life's essentials. My place is good for couples and solo adventurers. ** Unfortunately we are unable to accommodate pets or children/infants! ** The Roost is part of our family home. It is completely self contained and has a large bedroom with probably the best views of the South Downs in the area! There is a good sized bathroom with shower cubicle and lots of fluffy towels and locally produced bath goodies for you to enjoy during your stay. The hallway has plenty of room for your walking boots, suitcases, coats, bikes or any antiques you might've purchased in Petworth during your stay! The annex is light and airy and recently completely refurbished and decorated. Please note that The Roost doesn't have a kitchen - but there is a small table and chairs as well as a little fridge (that can house small bottles of water and milk - not much else!) The Roost is an annex and is all yours during your stay. It has it's own front door. We have a very large (sloped) private driveway for you to park up in. The garden is accessed by a gate next to the front door. You are more than welcome to enjoy our garden…the chickens are located in a large coop at the bottom of the garden. They love being visited! We are always on hand if you need anything. We can organise taxis (need as much notice as possible for these please as they do get booked up quite quickly at the weekend), recommend walks, attractions, shopping, restaurants, gastro pubs (including the award winning The Horse Guards Inn at Tillington, The Noah's Arc at Lurgashall, The Lickfold Inn at Lickfold, Cowdray Cafe or even our very own village pub, The Hollist Arms if you fancy something closer to home…please just ask…we are always happy to chat over a cup of tea too! The village is a 15 minute drive from Haslemere train station. Trains run into London Waterloo. There are local buses which go into Midhurst and Petworth as well as further afield to Chichester. We have timetables and bus stop locations. Please note that they are few and far between and we would advise bringing your own transportation! In winter, it gets very dark, very quickly. It is wise to bring a torch if you are going to be out late. We have a few to lend but I would always advise bringing your own if possible. Wellies and or walking boots are a must! There are so many gorgeous walks in the area. A short 20 minute ramble brings you on top of the hill and you can see across the Downs for miles. We have local maps for you to borrow if you are interested. The area is brilliant for keen bikers too - we are happy to accommodate bikes in The Roost's hallway. Wifi has just been made available in The Roost. Please ask for passcodes. Breakfast as an additional purchased option is currently unavailable due to covid.
