The George & Dragon Hotel, Wolverton Townsend

The George & Dragon Hotel is set in picturesque countryside, 7 miles from Basingstoke, close to Newbury and Winchester. It has a rich history having once been owned by the Duke of Wellington, a Dam buster, and Winston Churchill being a trustee . Our 11 Rooms are comfortable looking onto patios, with flat-screen TV, private bathroom, and/or shower, free toiletries & wifi. We have an A la carte menu, with a Full English breakfast. Guests can use the 2.5 acre garden. There is ample parking. The price quoted is for each room on bed and breakfast basis. Each additional room is then the same. We have large gardens, various patios and space inside to sit by the fire or in the bar or a quiet breakfast area. Guests are free to use the restaurant, bar, reception and breakfast areas. We have a friendly management team available as needed. The property is in a rural position yet close to everything you need. We have three large town/ cities in Basingstoke , Newbury and Winchester all within 15-30 mins - we are also close to both the M3 and the M4 making it easy to come in from Heathrow , Gatwick or Southampton airports . It is also a perfect base for central London with the Kings rd London just over 115 hour away. We are the perfect weekend getaway from the city hustle yet close enough to make travel easy. We recommend a car There are local taxis and buses , but as a country hotel - car is best . Accommodation is set in two buildings adjoined by a courtyard and close to the gardens - parking is really easy and near to the rooms.
