Robin Hoods Rest
Boutique Holiday Cottage thats just for you and your dog (or 2) We hope we’ve thought of everything; comfy dog bed, dog treats, outdoor doggy shower and dog towels, beautiful Egyptian cotton bed linen, huge fluffy white towels and even a welcome pack on arrival of items to get you started: bread, butter, milk, jams, biscuits, tea and coffee and wine! PLEASE NOTE: anyone attempting to ‘GAZUMP’ guests with confirmed bookings will reported to Airbnb and very probably banned from the site. Robin Hoods Rest is a newly renovated property. We first encountered it when we heard from a friend, it was going up for sale. It was a sad, neglected little house with so much potential, we knew immediately what it was destined to become. We bought it and stripped it back to brick. Many original features have been uncovered and lovingly restored and/or retained. Several months of hard work have revealed a beautiful retreat. We are completely dog friendly but we insist that they are non destructive and housetrained and that you do not allow them to sleep on the human bed. Sadly, I cannot accept incontinent dogs, untrained pups or intact males who scent mark. We love it, we hope you do too. Full access of the house and garden Should you need anything whilst staying, I’m just a phone call or text away. If you wish to arrange flowers or chocolates to be there upon arrival, I can do this on your behalf. By prior arrangement, I’m also happy to dog sit for an hour or two, if your stay is for a wedding or other occasion where your pooch cannot go. Robin Hoods Rest is nestled in an unexpected place. We are perfectly located for access to the M1, A38 and the A614. Close by we have Newstead Abbey, Hardwick Hall with its lovely old Hardwick Inn. A slightly longer drive to the south, we have Wollaton Hall & Park. If going north, Chatsworth House is stunning, then across to Bakewell, Buxton and other scenic towns and villages in the Peak District. If heading north on the A614, Clumber Park and Rufford Park are perfect for dog walking. The Major Oak is a must for any Robin Hood fans. For provisions, there’s a Morrison’s about 1.5 miles away. If you are an Amazon Prime customer, Prime is operational in this area and the groceries come from another nearby Morrisons. The property postcode is NG179AF. All other supermarkets deliver too. On Nuncargate Road, there’s a butchers, further along you’ll find a Costcutter shop which is also a Post Office. There’s a barbers shop and a hair & beauty salon too. There is no designated parking at the property. Sherwood Rise is one of the oldest streets in Kirkby In Ashfield and dates back to the 1700’s - long before cars existed. There is parking available on-street on a first come first served basis. The nearer to check in you arrive, the better your chances of snapping up a parking space. We are the second property on Sherwood Rise and as such, my preference is to park easily on Nuncargate Road and walk the 20 metres to the house. A car is almost certainly essential if you plan on leaving the property. Buses run on the road across the bottom of the cul-de-sac, and there are details too within the property for local taxi firms. During the renovation of the property, we have retained as many original features as possible. The property is beamed downstairs, clearance is about 6ft 1”. Also please be aware the stairs are original with a tricky twist at the bottom, they are different heights and depths too. Please also be aware there is a shower, not a bath. The original features may pose a problem for anyone who is partially sighted or with limited mobility. In this instance it may well be better to seek a more appropriate/modern property. I cannot accept third party bookings.
