This fully furnished one bedroom, first floor flat is beautifully situated overlooking Wick Harbour and has views out to Wick Bay and beyond. It is within walking distance of all local amenities including shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. The award winning Wick Heritage Museum and the famous Old Pulteney Distillery are within a short stroll. There are also beautiful coastal and river walks within the area where you may be able to catch sight of whales, dolphins, puffins and many other animals. The flat contains everything you need for a comfortable stay including all kitchen equipment and utensils, toiletries, TV, wifi and easy car parking nearby. There is a comfortable double bed in the bedroom and a sofa-bed in the living room suitable for 1 adult or 2 children, 12 years and under. You have the whole flat by yourself. We can offer guests a meet and greet upon arrival or instructions to the key safe located at the door. The flat is called The Steamboat as it was once part of the old Steamboat Inn which operated during the 1800s and early 1900s. The adjacent Wick Harbour has a fascinating history having been the centre of the European Herring Industry in the 1800s. Mounted on the outside wall of the property is a barometer that was placed there to commemorate the 37 fishermen that were lost during a violent storm on 'Black Saturday, 19 August 1848. Wick Harbour is still busy to this day with a mixture of boats from leisure craft and commercial fishing boats to modern vessels serving the Beatrice offshore wind-farm. Relax in our comfortable chair with a pair of binoculars and watch the world go by! Walking in and around Wick is easy and the town is served by road, bus, rail and airport links. The county of Caithness offers many fantastic opportunities to explore including ancient monuments, castles, sandy beaches, dramatic coastal scenery and is prominently situated on both the famous North Coast 500 and the John O' Groats Walking trail. Ferries offering trips to the nearby Orkney Islands are closely situated at Scrabster, Gills and John O'Groats.
