The barn is located on the Welbeck estate, home to the Dukes of Portland and their families since 1607. Nestled in Nottinghamshire’s Sherwood Forest, close to the Derbyshire border. Throw open the large door and cross over the threshold and you’ll find yourself in the heart of the bright and spacious kitchen of this roomy four-bedroom barn conversion sleeping up to eight people. The kitchen is full of character and, complete with traditional farmhouse table and bench seating, is sure to be the place you regularly gather during your stay. This well-equipped contemporary kitchen has all the benefits of a modern kitchen but with a few extra twists. Check out the quirky addition of the original cattle feed troughs! The kitchen leads into the lounge with large, comfy Chesterfield sofas that are just made for kicking back and watching television. French doors lead out from the lounge to a south-facing patio, hot tub and lawned garden, complete with outdoor dining furniture. With so much space, this is a great place for a family gathering. The enclosed outdoor space is perfect for playing games and enjoying alfresco dining and barbecues or just sipping a glass of something nice as the sun goes down. And if you need a little solitude? Well, the snug, adjoining the lounge, is furnished with chairs and desk to provide a little space away from everyone else. It makes for the perfect escape to put your feet up and enjoy a good book. Also, on the ground floor, is a double bedroom and family bathroom and at the far end of the barn, you’ll find a large studio bedroom. This one has a super king-size bed, dressing table and some lovely feature windows. Upstairs is the master bedroom with a king-size bed with en suite and another double bedroom with en suite. Both rooms enjoy glorious views across the countryside. Guests have sole use of the barn, garden and patio area at the back. The courtyard at the front is shared with the other barns, with designated parking for at least 3 cars. Guest have access to the public footpaths across the estate from and can also walk through the estate to the cafe, farm shop and art galleries. Clumber Park, Sherwood Forest, Rufford Abbey Country Park, Newstead Abbey, Bolsover Castle, Sherwood Pines, Gullivers Valley theme park, Mr Straws House or Hardwick Hall are just a few of the many places within a 30 minutes’ drive.
