This traditional 19th Century roadside Inn hides an informal restaurant with AA Rosette award, and contemporary bedrooms with a 4 star AA rating. Recommended by Michelin Guide. For your safety during the covid 19 pandemic, We are following Airbnb’s enhanced cleaning protocol, which was developed with expert guidance. We have three ensuite bedrooms at The Olive Branch each individually finished to a high standard. In all the bedrooms you will find king sized beds, flat screen Tv & DVD players, power showers and baths. Although we are nothing like a hotel, you will be very pleased by the service we can offer, you can come and go to your room as you please with no night time restrictions, there is always somebody on call to help you with any arrangements such as travel! Guests in the morning can help themselves to fresh juices & hot drinks from the coffee counter outside the rooms or have the option to purchase a Full Breakfast from our menu in the restaurant (Email hidden by Airbnb) plimentary tea, coffee area, and in the evening the Restaurant and bar. In a warren of comfy, intimate, snug rooms, you can relax by the open fire with a warming glass of fine wine, or sip champagne on the deck over the sunny garden and admire far-reaching views of Marsden Moor Estate. please note bar/resaurant closed Mondays The Colne Valley Lying to the west of Huddersfield, the Colne Valley has much to explore, including a number of stone built villages and the Huddersfield Narrow Canal which flows through the valley bottom.Sitting at the head of the valley Marsden is a very popular location for visitors where you can wander alongside the water's edge and retrace ancient packhorse trails. But, don't be fooled, this is a thoroughly modern village, where contemporary arts and crafts site perfectly alongside country ales and village stores.Slaithwaite is dominated by magnificent mill buildings, as well as a Georgian Church and the nearby 16th Century Slaithwaite Hall, you'll recognise it as the fictional Skelthwaite in the TV series Where the Heart Is. Events in the Colne Valley feature folklore festivals, jazz, brass bands and much more, and the area is surrounded by the dramatic Peak District Park and the National Trust Marsden Moor Estate making it an excellent base for walkers, cyclists and riders alike. Eastergate Bridge This scheduled ancient monument lies on the edge of the moorland, at the confluence of two streams. Dating back to the 17th century, Eastergate Bridge is an old packhorse bridge once used by Galloway ponies to transport baskets of wool from Huddersfield to Rochdale Pule Hill An impressive rocky outcrop offering incredible 360 degree views over much of the estate. A fantastic place to visit when the sun is beating down on it, but equally as spectacular on a day when there is snow on the ground. Wessenden Valley A wild and remote valley looking down across Blakeley and Butterley reservoirs. There are often fantastic sunsets here. It is also a great place to spot moorland birds such as golden plover, grouse, curlew and twite, which all breed here in good numbers. Standedge Tunnel Standedge Tunnel is the longest, highest and deepest canal tunnel in Britain! Situated midway along the Huddersfield Narrow Canal, the tunnel takes the canal under the high Pennine spine of Northern England between Marsden in the Colne Valley and Diggle in Saddleworth Marsden Jazz Festival The street festival, which takes place by the Huddersfield Narrow Canal, It acts as a showcase for all styles of jazz and up-and-coming talent, as well as playing host to some of the UK's finest jazz musicians Located on the A62 between Marsden and Slaithwaite. Regular buses stop opposite and the village has a train service hourly to Manchester or Huddersfield. Public footpaths criss cross the valley for fabulous hiking The Olive Branch Inn is highly regarded as one of the areas finest dining destinations; where fresh, local ingredients, informed service and an extensive collection of wines ensure a truly memorable experience
