A cosy, perfectly formed space in the centre of Orford, The Studio is ideally placed to enjoy this gorgeous Suffolk village. A short step to fabulous walks, Pump Street Bakery, 2 pubs, 2 restaurants, a tea room, Village Shop, Butcher & Pinneys Smokery, as well as a short drive to Snape, Aldeburgh, Woodbridge... you won't want for diversions, unless you just want to chill out on your own private patio. Ideal for a couple, a 3rd person can be squeezed in, and your dog is also welcome. The Studio is a bright modern space set in the garden of hosts Lydia and Mike's home in the centre of Orford. It is set up with everything you need for your stay - cosy in the winter and the big sliding door opens out onto your own patio in the summer. All the village amenities are in walking distance and you can access lovely walks almost straight from the house. Guests can park on the drive at the front of the house. The Studio is accessed via the side of the house. Lydia & Mike live in Orford full time and as they both work principally from home they are usually around and about. They have lots of knowledge about the village, the river, the Ness and local history so do ask them! We like to greet you on arrival (or soon after) if we can but then we’ll leave you to your own devices. Orford is a real English village, at the end of it's own road. Unless you are sailing here you can only reach it by driving through forests. The top of the village is more modern, then from the village square down it is packed with the quaintness of a truly ancient village. The Castle is 12th Century, the Church originates from the same period... what look like Victorian houses are often much older houses "modernised" in the 19th Century. In all except the inwter months the river is active with fishing boats, pleasure boats, sailors & canoeists. Orford Ness and RSPB Havergate island can be visited in the summer and a river trip is well worth the time. Sadly Orford is poorly served by public transport (one bus a day on weekdays- to Woodbridge early morning, to Orford late afternoon). There is a taxi firm in the Village (Castle Cars) that can collect you from Melton or Whickham Market Station. Driving is the best option but once you are here, you'll find the village can serve you most things! Winston the Cocker Spaniel also lives at the property and is always keen to welcome our guests! He may bark on arrival but you'll find him a charming additional host. Recently puppy working cocker Juno joined the family. She is a bit more shy and wary of humans- she’ll be curious to meet you but may run away from you!
