Maple Cottage

Located on the coastal road just outside of the quaint village of Kilcar, this beautiful house is the perfect holiday getaway. With an unobstructed view of idyllic Towney Bay, Maple Cottage is quietly cozy & warm and instantly feels like home. Maple Cottage boasts a professionally designed interior that mixes traditional finishes with classic and modern pieces, adding a touch of whimsy. Oak herringbone flooring, a stone fireplace, and large oak beams feature prominently in the house, while two sets of sliding/folding doors in the living room will allow you to bring the outside in. Two bedrooms have en-suites with showers and the main washroom has a cast-iron claw foot tub. There is one queen size bed and two doubles. Additionally there are two single fold up cots. A flat screen tv and dvd/Blu-ray player with a selection of movies are on hand should you feel like staying in, however no cable is provided. Wi-Fi is available for those that need to stay in touch with the outside world. A small record collection is also available to provide a musical backdrop to your stay. Unfortunately I will only be contacting you through text or Airbnb messages, however, my beloved dad - Papa Byrne - will be on hand to greet you and get you settled in. He's a town local who's very knowledgeable about the area so he'll be able to give you any information you'll need. The location is perfect, close enough to Kilcar so that you can enjoy nights at one of the four local pubs, but far enough so that you can appreciate everything a rural setting has to offer - peace and quiet! There are 2 public beaches at Muckross (20min walk, 5 min drive), one is perfect for swimming while the other is braved by surfers. Dolphins have been known to show up along this bit of coast, so keep a look out! There's plenty of hiking to be done nearby, most notably the cliffs of Sliabh Liag (20min drive)- almost 3x higher than the Cliffs of Moher. Other nearby activities include: sea kayaking, fishing/sea angling, boat trips, horse riding, cycling, and golf. *Bed sizes listed are UK sizes*
