Idyllic thatched cottage on edge of the Cotswolds
The Old Manor Cottage is a beautiful Grade 2 listed thatched cottage that dates back to the 17th century and sits peacefully in the large grounds of the owner's manor house. The charming cottage has a lovely cosy feel with many character features, including exposed beams and oak doors. It is surrounded by stunning countryside. William Shakespeare's birthplace of Stratford upon Avon is less than 10 miles away. Chipping Campden and Stow on the Wold are both within 20 minutes. Old Manor Cottage is located on a quiet lane in the small village of Halford, on the edge of the Cotswolds. The front door opens immediately into the beamed kitchen which is well equipped with electric oven with four ring electric hob, fridge freezer, slimline dishwasher, microwave, toaster, kettle and a combined washing machine and tumble dryer. There is also a glass table which comfortably seats 3. This leads into the hall, off which is the charming beamed sitting room which has a roaring open fire, downstairs loo and staircase. Upstairs is the light and airy bathroom, single bedroom and adjoining master bedroom. In keeping with the age and character of the cottage, the stairs are fairly steep ( but with hand rails on both sides ) and there is restricted headroom in certain areas. The cottage sits in three acres of beautifully maintained gardens, which run down to the picturesque River Stour. There is free use of the tennis court, tennis balls and racquets upon request from the owners. The Old Manor Cottage is a perfect choice for a couple or a small family looking for a relaxing break in beautiful surroundings. Jane lives at The Old Manor House opposite.
