One bedroom cottage near Chinley
The cottage is a one bedroom 2 story converted wash house situated in the gardens of former station that was dismantled and rebuilt as a house in a rural location in 1901. The location is ideal for country and walking get aways and is easily accessible by train from Manchester or Sheffield. The house is of local historical significance since the station was taken apart and rebuilt about half a mile from Chinley in 1901. There is also a Victorian greenhouse purchased from the 1904 Paris exhibition. The cottage has its own fenced garden and a private outdoor seating area but you can explore all of the garden if you like. You can use the washing machine and dryer a short distance from the cottage. We live in the nearby house and look forward to welcoming you and making sure that you have all you need for your stay. However you will have complete privacy as you prefer. The cottage is situated behind the main house off a quiet country road 10 minutes walk from Chinley village. In the village is a shop, a cafe, an Indian takeaway, a pizza shop with small eat-in area and a chip shop. The post office sells cheese and local products. Pubs are within a 20 minute walk or short drive. The Old Hall pub was recently listed as among the top 25 pubs in England and Wales (best to book for food on a Friday or Saturday). Also the Lamb serves food and the Paper Mill serves pizza from Thursday to Sunday. Morrisons and Aldi are in Chapel-en-le-Frith about 2-3 miles drive. There are many more pubs and restaurants in Buxton and Chapel-en-le-Frith. We are 10 to 15 minutes walk from Chinley station which is on the Manchester - Sheffield line. The train is convenient for walkers wishing to walk from Edale, Hope, Bamford, Hathersage or between these stations. It is 35 minutes to Manchester and 40 minutes to Sheffield. Otherwise you need a car to visit the nearby attractions. We provide breakfast and snack food in the cottage. This includes tea, coffee, milk, bread, yogurt, jams, fruit, biscuits, cereals and eggs of course. Also basic cooking supplies such as oil, vinegar, salt and pepper. If you would like anything else added for your stay we are happy to get supplies in, this can be especially helpful if you are coming by train. You may be visited by our chickens, especially if it is raining when they will peer in at you from the back window. You can eat as many of their eggs as you wish. If you have a fear of chickens, ducks or peafowl this is not the place for you! We have 2 cockerels so if you are likely to be disturbed by their early morning cock-a-doodle-do please let us know and we will put them in a sound proof box at night, we also provide ear plugs in case of this. Very few guests are bothered by it but just in case. Sometimes you will hear the sheep and cattle in the surrounding fields but we can't do anything about this! On the plus side you will not hear cars, trains or other city noises. If you wish to bring an extra person it is an additional £15 per night per person including the sofa bed bedding. Just book for 2 people and message me to let me know about the extra person and you can pay during your stay.
