A perfect base in rural Wiltshire for visiting Stonehenge, Lacock, Castle Combe, Avebury, Salisbury Cathedral and Bath as well as the many other delights Wiltshire has to offer. Whether walking, cycling or sightseeing The Tiny Barn is ideally located in the rural hamlet of Studley. The Tiny Barn is part of a former smallholding with 17th Century origins which also comprises the farmhouse and 'The Stone Barn', also used as a holiday rental. The Tiny Barn was converted in 2020. It is believed that its original use was as a farm store or gardener's bothy. The Tiny Barn is warm and cosy with an open plan living area and ample natural daylight. It has good quality finishes and fittings throughout making this a comfortable and perfect location to enjoy what Wiltshire has to offer. A lovely 'home' to come back to after a busy day of walking, cycling or sightseeing. The Tiny Barn has a kitchenette with a two ring hob, built in larder fridge and a combination microwave (includes grill and convection oven). There is a gas-fired combi boiler providing radiator heating and hot water. The TV is a ‘smart’ TV and the WiFi is dedicated to The Tiny Barn with no data restriction. There is a dual USB charging socket for ease of charging your mobiles and tablets. Complimentary tea, hot chocolate and coffee is provided as well as a selection of bathroom toiletries. One side of the full size double bed is against a wall. The shower cubicle, which is compact (approximately 600mm square), is tucked away round a corner and is open to the studio’s sleeping and living areas. There is a separate WC with basin. Dedicated private parking is located immediately outside the studio. The Tiny Barn has a small dedicated outside area, known as The Tiny Garden, from where guests can dine al fresco enjoying the wonderful view and sunsets. The Tiny Garden also has an area for a guest-purchased instant/disposable bbq. BBQ tools are provided. Guests have sole use of The Tiny Barn and it’s small outside area, The Tiny Garden. Dedicated private parking is available for one car (please note that we are unable to accommodate large vans, caravans and motor homes). We live in the main house, adjacent The Tiny Barn, and are available to assist with any queries, as much or as little as needed. Studley is a small hamlet located between the historic market towns of Chippenham and Calne and has stunning views over rural Wiltshire. There are three pubs/restaurants locally, all walking distance. These are The Dumb Post Inn, Lansdowne Arms and Gurkha Baynjan (Black Dog Inn). Bowood House, the stately home with Capability Brown-designed grounds and also with hotel/spa and golf club, is very close, either by a short drive or a longer walk. The Sustrans NCR4 is a short walk or cycle ride away. Avebury stone circle World Heritage Site, chocolate box village Castle Combe, Marlborough and Lacock are all just a short drive away. The National Trust village of Lacock has been used as a location for several of the Harry Potter films. Marlborough boasts the widest high street in England which is home to the famous Polly Tea Rooms. The World Heritage Site of Bath is quite close, easy to drive to or a short 11 minute train journey from nearby Chippenham. Visit the world famous baths, travel on the open top bus tour and enjoy the splendour of Georgian architecture. The Kennet and Avon canal is nearby and offers lovely walks, including the Caen Hill flight of 30+ locks at Devizes. Stonehenge and Salisbury Cathedral are a little further away and well worth a visit. A car is recommended and dedicated private parking for one car is provided . M4 J17 is about a 15 minute drive away. For those who travel without a car, the following information may be helpful: A regular bus service (Stagecoach Route 55), which is available to/from Chippenham, Calne and Swindon, has a stop just a 10 minute walk away (known as Studley Crossroads). Mainline railway is available at Chippenham. The 55 bus has a stop right outside. There is usually an ample supply of taxis at the station too. The Sustrans NCR4 is a short walk or cycle ride away. To find out more about Wiltshire we recommend visiting the Visit Wiltshire website. The Tiny Barn is part of a former smallholding set around a central courtyard which includes the original farmhouse, dating back to the 17th century, and The Stone Barn, which is also a holiday rental. Nicky and Mark live in the farmhouse. The courtyard is accessed from a quiet and narrow single track lane. Early check-in and late check-out are each available, albeit subject to availability, for an additional charge. Welcome packs can also be provided by prior arrangement for an additional charge.
