Authentic New Forest cottage renovated to a very high standard. Ideal for couples or young families looking for a quiet getaway. The Cottage is nestled in tranquil ancient woodland whilst just a few minutes’ walk from the quintessential village of Burley. Ideally positioned to explore the New Forest National Park, which is literally on your doorstep. New Forest ponies and cattle regularly wander by your front gate. Perfect for walkers and cyclists wanting to discover the forest. The Cottage is believed to date back around 300 years and was originally constructed from cob (an authentic natural building material made from soil, water and straw). Through thoughtful and sympathetic refurbishment, The Cottage has been updated to an excellent standard and so now offers a delightful combination of 18th century charm coupled with a high-quality finish. The Cottage is self-contained and attached to the host’s home. There is a cosy sitting room featuring a delightful wood burning stove with kindling and logs, free of charge, and a fireguard if required. Sky TV with popular channels, Netfilx, Sky Cinema and catch-up is available. There is a selection of books and novels as well as a few popular board games for you to enjoy during your stay. The dining room is very light and airy with an oak dining table - plenty of room for a family of four to dine. There is a separate side table ideal to read your paper at or enjoy your morning coffee next to the French doors which opens onto the rear terrace with patio furniture and a mini BBQ. The shaker style kitchen has a comprehensive selection of kitchen equipment. There is a Bosch induction hob and fan oven, microwave oven, toaster, kettle and fridge with freezer box. There is also integrated slimline dishwasher and washing machine. On the first floor you will find two bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king size bed with matching bedside units. There is plenty of storage including a built-in cupboard with hanging space and a chest of draws. This room has a wonderful outlook to the front of the cottage and overlooks the woods in which the cottage is situated. The second bedroom is cosy and offers two comfortable single beds. A travel cot can also be provided upon request. This room looks out onto garden and forest beyond. The Laura Ashley bathroom suite has a freestanding roll top bath with delightful garden views as its centre piece. The suite also comprises a marble top vanity unit with double basin, regal WC and an oversized shower. There are twin electric towel warming radiators to ensure your fluffy bath sheets are always toasty and warm. There are shingled cottage gardens at the front of The Cottage with seating to help you enjoy the evening sun whilst watching the ponies meander by and perhaps with a glass or two of wine or a chilled New Forest Cider, pressed and sold not 200 yards from The Cottage. Private parking is only a few yards away on the hosts driveway. 13amp EV charging point available (15p per Kwh) Secure bike storage is available upon request as is a handy bike/dog/wellie washing station. Localit (Website hidden by Airbnb) The Cottage is delightfully situated in an extremely quiet location yet only a few minutes’ walk from the New Forest village of Burley. Burley is served by a number of popular and quirky shops and there is also a particularly useful village store and butcher selling good quality every day food items. There are three popular and well renowned country pubs all serving food within walking distance of The Cottage and sampling an ice cream from one of the village shops is a treat not to be missed. The popular New Forest market town of Ringwood is just a ten minute drive away and has a number of interesting independent shops and selection of larger retail shops and supermarkets including Waitrose, Sainsburys and Lidl. There are dozens of fantastic attractions a little further afield including everything from the award winning seven miles of golden beaches at Bournemouth to the award winning Paulton’s Park and Peppa Pig World, both approximately 30 minutes’ drive away. Lymington, with its vibrant Saturday market and ferry to the Isle of Wight, Beaulieu with its world famous motor museum as well as Bucklers Hard, Brockenhurst, Fordingbridge, Christchurch, Milford-On-Sea – all less than 30 minutes’ drive, all picturesque, all with something different to offer. Guest Access The Cottage is available for a minimum three-night booking. Check-in time is from 4-9pm. The host, Dan, will greet you and show you around The Cottage and be sure any questions are answered. Check out is by 10AM. Interaction with guests Dan lives next door with Kate, their toddler son, lazy cat and little dog. The Cottage offers a good degree of privacy with the added advantage of Dan and Kate not being too far away and happy to help out with local knowledge or to deal with any issues that may arise. Children The cottage is suitable for young families with up to two children plus an infant, the children’s bedroom is cosy and has two single beds. There is a travel cot and highchair available FOC. Dogs We will consider one small, well behaved dog. However, we request that dogs are not allowed onto the furniture or beds and must not be left unattended in the property. Please contact us if you wish to bring your dog. Other things to note Free, unlimited, high speed wifi. Parking for more than one vehicle available on request. Being an old cottage some of the doorways might be slightly narrower than you are used to and some of the door frames are lower than that of more modern property. Also, those over about 6’2” may find the overhead shower a little low. It is really important that any gates are kept closed at all times otherwise you may find you have been followed into The Cottage by a horse or other forest creature. Brockenhurst main line rail station (90 minutes Waterloo) is just 15 minutes drive from the cottage.
