Charming historic cottage in the North Kent Downs
Situated in the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this 18th century cottage offers a relaxing and comfortable stay with its own private garden. The Kent coast is easily accessible by car (Deal, Folkestone, Hythe & Dungeness) as is the historic town of Canterbury. The house is perfectly located for a short break from London (15-minute taxi from Ashford International) or a stopover when travelling to or from the Continent with the Eurotunnel and Dover Port within 30 minutes drive. The cottage offers historic charm with modern convenience. The main area is a large oak vaulted living room with a table and chairs to eat at and a comfortable sofa to relax and watch television. The living room opens through french doors into a small private garden with outdoor seating. Upstairs on the mezzanine there is a large kingsize bed alongside a beautiful copper bateau bath. Please note, the upstairs bedroom is open plan and looks down into the main space. There is no door at the top of the stairs. Downstairs there is a second bedroom with twin single beds. The downstairs bathroom comprises of a shower, sink and toilet. There is a fully working modern kitchen with an oven, gas hob, dishwasher, fridge (no freezer), washing machine and tumble dryer. The cottage has wifi and central heating throughout. It is fitted with two smoke/carbon monoxide alarms. Upon arrival you will find a welcome basket with eggs, butter, tea, coffee and milk. Guests have the opportunity to be completely independent within this property. We live in the adjacent farmhouse, located approximately 50m from the cottage, so we are there should you require anything. If we are not around to welcome you, we will advise you in advance with details on key collection. The cottage is located on a small farm in Brook, a quiet and friendly Kent village. There are lovely walks from the front door, a beautiful 11th century church and the North Kent Downs are a 5-minute drive or accessible on foot. The village of Brook neighbours Wye, which contains restaurants, pubs, post office and a Co-op. There are plenty of countryside walks around the area. If you want to get further afield the nearest train stations are Wye or Ashford with direct links to London, Margate and also further afield to Paris. The high speed train to Kings Cross is a 15-minute drive away where you can get to London in 38 minutes.
