Great family house near Amsterdam!

A beautifull and comfortable family house in the historic old town of Monnickendam. Located near the harbour (300 ft) and very close to Amsterdam (15 min by bus or by car), historic Volendam and Marken. A newly built (2013) family house right in the old town of Monnickendam. Modern comfort in a late 19th century style architecture. Fully equiped kitchen and large (8 people) dining table. Comfortable living with fire place and access to garden (sandbox, BBQ, outdoor dining table). Three bedrooms on the first floor (double bed + TV, single / double bed , single bed) and spacious bathroom with double (rain)shower and separate bath. On the second floor a bathroom (with shower), bedroom with double bed (+TV) and bedroom with two single beds. During your stay you will have the entire house and garden to yourselves. We have three (adult) bicycles you may use and lots of kids toys, games and movies (Netflix & AppleTV) available. We or our friends will welcome you, show you around the house and make sure that you get settled in. The house is located at about 100 meters from the harbour where you could rent a (sailing)boat or board one of the boats that will take you to the other historic villages at the lake (like Volendam or Marken). The town can be explored well on foot, but a bike is a good alternative. Within 1 kilometer wou will find some nice restaurants (even one with a Michelin star), authentic cafe's and terraces, an icecream shop and a nice coffee bar. Further down the street there are some smaal shops; the supermarket is only a 5 minute walk (2 by bike). After passing the harbour you enter the 'Hemmeland' nature reserve (5 walking minutes). Here you can walk along the lake or relax at one of the four small sandy beaches that are ideal for kids (shallow, sweet and in the summer nice clear, warm water). PUBLIC TRANSPORT The bus stop to Amsterdam is a 2 min walk and will get you to the center in only 15 minutes. Popular tourist destinations Volendam and Marken are reached by bus in 10 minutes or by bike in 20 minutes. CAR The main access road is the N247, which connects the village directly to Amsterdam in the south and passes along Broek in Waterland in between. To the north, that same N247 connects Monnickendam to Edam-Volendam and ultimately, close to Hoorn, to the A7/E22. Free carpark in the direct vicinity of the house. The tourist office is 100 meters from the house and open daily in summer, 10AM-5PM. They offer a good selection of maps, information listings and even some souvenirs. They can also assist in finding boat or bike rentals, excursions, etc
