Berber Nomad Camp with Desert Tours
Rejuvenate yourself away from the pollution of the city in the pure and peaceful atmosphere of the desert. Discover nomadic life with real Sahrawi nomads, between rides camels, traditional tents and bivouacs, and excellent Moroccan dishes. Note: Our special accommodation is among the dunes and does not have an address. Although Airbnb lists our location as Zagora, we are closer to the smaller desert village of M'Hamid El Ghizlane. See 'Getting Around' for more information. Housing in traditional nomadic tents or traditional daub houses, with excursions in the desert of southern Morocco in option. The houses have electricity thanks to solar panes, and there is running water for showers and toilets. We adapt to your preferences of food and transportation (foot, camel or 4x4). We can enhance the usual camel seat to provide you extra comfort and provide boards for sand surfing. If you have special wishes of destination, leasure or any other enquiries, just ask, and we'll do everything satisfy you. The price that we offer is for the accommodation in a bivouac (traditional daub house) in M'Hamid El Ghizlane, the starting point of any excursion. It includes breakfasts and tea on demand. The price of the excursions depends on the options chosen (duration, destination, leasures, mean of transport, number of people, food, etc.). Outdoor diners on carpets, under the stars. Friendly nomadic people (Sahrawi), who had to settle down because of harder conditions of border crossing toward Algeria, Mali, etc Shops, cafes, cyberspaces with computers and internet, taxis and buses are available in the village of M'Hamid El Ghizlane, a few minutes walk from the bivouac. NOTE: We are not in Zagora exactly, but in the desert (where there is no address location). Please set your GPS instead to the smaller desert village of M'Hamid El Ghizlane. You can arrive by taxi or CTM bus from multiple destinations (Zagora, Ouarzazate, Marrakech, Casablanca...). For example, there are daily departures of CTM bus from Marrakech at 11:15 am for 170 MAD (around 15 €), and daily return at 6:15 am at the same price. The destination on CTM website is called: Lamhamid Ghozlane. We can come to pick you at the bus station or the city center. Clean sheets and blankets are provided and can be cleaned again on demand. You will need towels, torch, sun glass, sun cream, and for the excursions: tissues, closables bags to protect your stuffs from the sand, mineral water and warmer clothes for the nights. On site you can buy a scarf called "chache" to protect your head from the sun. All nomads bear it. You can come at any time of year, but if you are not used to hot countries, it is best to avoid summer because the temperature can climb up to 50 Celsius degrees. Your host Saïd can share his internet connection with you, or you can go to one of the two cybercafes of the village. Good to know also: there are cats in the bivouac.
