The Little Byre, Wellow (Near to Sherwood Forest)
The Little Byre is a newly renovated quirky, cozy cow shed that originally dates back to 1802. Situated in the historic village of Wellow, a perfect holiday for couples! You get the property entirely to yourself, and a small private outside area within the garden of one of the oldest cottages in the village. Fully open plan, The Little Byre features a bespoke kitchenette, modern bathroom, living room area, and a one-of-a-kind mezzanine level bedroom. Your perfect countryside retreat! The Little Byre is a unique, 200+ year old cow shed situated in the heart of Wellow, in front of the historic village green and Maypole (which is still in use today!) Renovations in 2017 have converted the space in to a perfect marriage between rustic and modern. The internal woodwork is entirely handmade, and the exposed original beams give the space a comforting and cozy experience. There is a kitchenette with a kettle, toaster and microwave (no oven/hob). Relax after a long day in the countryside, in front of the fireplace. There is a smart TV/DVD player, a radio, and there is wi-fi within the property. Guests will have access to the entire property, and a small gated side garden as well as a small private Courtyard garden to the rear. Access to the property is through the garden of the main cottage, which is freestanding from The Little Byre. There is parking for a single car, off-street in our private car parking area. We live in Church Farm Cottage, which has a large surrounding garden, containing The Little Byre. We will be available to help you upon arrival, departure, and will usually be around the cottage or local village if you should require any help or advice about the surrounding area. Wellow is a small village in Nottinghamshire, often known for it's large (and still used) Maypole, situated on the village green, opposite the accommodation. We are just a stones throw (5 minutes by car) to Sherwood Forest (and Centre Parcs), as well as Rufford Park, Clumber Park, and countless other small villages between Nottingham and Newark. There are many scenic historic landmarks in the surrounding areas, such as Southwell Minster and Newark Castle. There is plenty of countryside and history to see, whichever way you explore! To aid relaxing, there are two public houses in Wellow, both within a 60 second walk! The Olde Red Lion is a traditional country pub, and offers delicious home cooked food, as well as local ales and ciders. The Maypole is just across the road and offers everything from cooked breakfast, to afternoon tea, to full Sunday roasts. There are a number of local supermarkets within a few miles, and plenty of quaint tea rooms to visit. There are plenty of spaces nearby that are perfect for walking and cycling, we are happy to recommend some of the local scenic points! There is space for a single car to park, as well as on-road parking. There are local bus services available, and Rufford Park is within walking distance. There are two small dogs living in the Main House. The Staircase is quite steep and may not be suitable for older guests.
