Charming little cottage by Bewl and Bedgebury

Beautiful little semi-detached cottage within walking distance of Bewl Reservoir and Bedgebury Forest and a short drive from several famous gardens including Sissinghurst and Great Dixter. This gorgeous cottage is a fully equipped home-away-from-home with lovely vintage furniture, a large pine table in the shaker-style kitchen, a large downstairs bathroom, a spacious bedroom with feature window and pretty cottage garden. There is a private parking space across the road and a shed for bicycles. Two bicycles can be kept in the shed - please bring your own bike locks. This is a charming old property with many custom-made fittings so would not suit visitors expecting perfect fixtures and fittings. Because it is my home you will find more possessions here than you might at a purposely furnished rental. I hope you enjoy this personal element and my collection of objects and don’t mind that a few areas are locked up. That said, it should have everything you need. The cottage is semi-detached to my lovely neighbours (you may hear them slightly) who do need to be considered and we are near the A21 so you will have quick access to all sorts of interesting places. Guests will have access to all unlocked areas. The private parking space is just across the road. Etchingham mainline station is a £15 taxi ride away, or I can collect if I am free. There is a lovely farmshop just down the road. I am available on the phone until 8pm, and I can be at the property with 24 hours notice to resolve any problems. I also have a keyholder who can sometimes be available at shorter notice. This is a beautiful area that is packed with things to do. Bewl Reservoir and Bedgebury Forest, with their off-road cycling routes, are within walking distance so you get to save parking fees. We have two nice farm shops just down the road and a Kino cinema (I think this is currently closed) ten minutes away. There are many beautiful walks in the area and Tunbridge Wells, Battle, Hastings and St Leonards (great for bric-a-brac), Rye, Sissinghurst, Herstmonceaux, Charleston Farmhouse, Batemans, Great Dixter and Scotney Castle are all a short drive away. Camber and Brighton are possible as day trips. WITHOUT A CAR You can walk or cycle around Bedgbury forest, after walking through the forest to pick up the bicycles from Quench if you are hiring. You might be able to hire for a few days and bring them home to lock up in the shed. Bewl reservoir is a short walk and lovely for picnics or you can spend the day doing the circular walk around it. If you are without a car you can get a bus to Hastings and to Battle, both of which would make nice days out, or to Tunbridge Wells which has some interesting sites and decent shopping. SHOPPING AND SNACKS The Weald Smokery is 5 minutes walk away and does snacks Eggs to Apples is a short bicycle ride away, but down a main road. They also do snacks. Planters is a walk away but not the nicest walk as it's down a main road. But I see they do food deliveries! The nearest supermarkets are is in Hawkhurst. You can get a 10 minute bus ride there (only one or two buses a day though) where there is a Waitrose and Tesco. Etchingham and Stonegate Stations which are on the mainline to London 1.5 hours) are about 12 minutes drive away.
