Till Barn is a cozy centrally heated cottage and is surprisingly spacious, with vaulted beamed ceilings in the sitting room and bedroom and fully equipped kitchen and bath/ shower room. It is situated in a pretty and peaceful rural location, but is only 10 minutes by car from Lincoln Cathedral and Castle and 8 mins from the Lincoln Showground, so guests have all the convenience of being really close to attractions but with the advantage of a peaceful nights sleep. Till Barn is fully self-contained and has central heating throughout. There is a separate fully furnished large beamed bedroom with a sumptuous King sized bed, wooden floor with rug, bedroom furniture, DAB radio and alarm. Bedding and towels are provided. The lounge area has a beautiful quarry tiled floor with large cozy woolen rug, a large leather settee and easy chair, an extendable dining table, with 2 dining chairs (more can be provided) TV and DVD with a great selection of DVD films for guests to enjoy. The newly refurbished bathroom has a luxury roll top bath with a power shower over the bath, so guests can chose to have a wallow if they want to or the convenience of an invigorating shower. This is a self catering cottage as there is a small separate kitchen (double doors between kitchen and lounge can be closed to add extra coziness) The kitchen is fully equipped with a full size oven, hob, extractor, fridge, microwave and all essential cooking equipment, but I do supply some basics: Cereal, tea, coffee, sugar (plus a small jug of fresh milk so you can have a nice cuppa on arrival), I also provide daily essentials for the kitchen, like washing up liquid, washing cloths and drying up towels, iron and ironing board. Outside there is off road parking and a lovely lawned area for guests to sit out and enjoy this lovely peaceful rural location and take in Lincolnshire's famous sunsets. It is adjacent to our family farm and guests are welcome to enjoy the open spaces and some lovely walks, including a walk that takes you through a small copse of trees onto the River Till bank . Guests are welcome to share this pretty peaceful world away from the madding crowd but just 10 minutes away from 2000 years of history. The barn is fully self contained with its own private entrance and private lawn where guests can relax on the garden furniture provided in the shade of the rather beautiful Hawthorn tree and sit and listen to the birds and watch the sun go down!. Guests can also enjoy our farm walks, one of which follows the meandering river Till, a truly peaceful and private walk that circles back to the farm, about 2 miles. For those that like to fish, you are welcome to use our little jetty to fish from the river (during the season) no charge, just enjoy the total peace and tranquility of this peaceful private riverbank. Till Barn is truly situated in the best of both worlds, close enough to Lincoln to enjoy its attractions ( 10 minutes by car to the Cathedral ) but far enough away to enjoy peace and quiet, a real retreat after a busy day. Till Barn is easily accessible and only 2 miles from the A57. We love meeting people and will be more than happy to talk about things to do and see in the area, however, we always ensure that you, the guest, gets all the privacy and interaction you want, its your holiday, not ours. The nearest village of Saxilby is about 2 miles away and has many amenities, including shops, pubs, cafes, hairdressers, beauty salon, train station and bus stops into Lincoln or Gainsborough. This part of Lincolnshire provides excellent cycling as it is relatively flat and therefore suitable for all ages and abilities. The cottage has easy access to an extensive cycle route into Lincoln or to outlying villages. The cycle route is part of the National Cycle route and provides safe off road cycling to Lincoln, Skellingthorpe, Doddington with its historical hall and visitor center, and Harby. The only road cycling is a quiet 2 mile stretch along the single track road from our hamlet to join the cycle path. Guests are welcome to borrow our maintained family bikes, but please note, this will be at your own risk. We cannot provide helmets for hygiene reasons, so its best if you bring your own. Our hamlet lies at a crossroads giving easy access to major roads to north, east and west while at the same time, far enough away from them to offer absolute peace and quiet, the best of both worlds. We are very close to the famous Lincolnshire Showground with its vibrant annual calendar of events, including antique and home shows, and only a 10 minute drive straight into the heart of Historic Lincoln. There is a weekday park and ride within easy access of Till Barn, the perfect way to combine a stress free visit to Lincoln. It is well sign posted and we can direct you along quieter country roads to get to it.There is also a shuttle bus that links the top end of Lincoln, where the Cathedral and Castle are, to the bottom end, where the shops are. The hill that links the 2 areas is called Steep Hill for a very good reason!! This part of town is very quaint and interesting and well worth a visit. Saxilby is the nearest big village which has most amenities and is only 2 miles away. It also conveniently has a train station with regular trains into Lincoln, so guests could street park for free in Saxilby and pop on a train which drops you off in Lincoln in a central location without the expense and worry of finding somewhere to park once in the town, then at the end of a busy sight seeing day, pop back on and be sitting in your country garden within 20 minutes, perfect! It is adjacent to our working arable farm, so please be aware when booking, that during busy harvest periods, normally August/September and sometimes into October, large vehicles will be moving about in the adjacent farmyard as lorries arrive and leave . Its not constant noise, and generally activity begins after 10am and its often quiet by 9pm, but this varies with annual conditions. Generally, this doesn't detract from the sense of being away from it all and most guests appear to be unaware of it (see reviews)
