Renovated 17th-century Farmhouse

Lou Guit is a beautifully furnished 17th-century farmhouse with a private swimming pool and outdoor terrace, all set in a private garden. The house has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, and comfortably sleeps 10 people, with space for more with a double sofa-bed and futons. Guests will also be able to enjoy the fully equipped modern kitchen and open-plan downstairs with dining and sitting areas. It is a truly fantastic property for family or group holidays all year round. The open-plan ground floor of the main house has a breakfast room next to a beautiful, open wood-burning fireplace, with another more formal dining table that comfortably seats 10 people, and a sitting area with TV, DVD player and sofas. There is a separate, fully-equipped modern kitchen, with an oven, four gas rings, microwave, coffee maker, fridge and freezer. We provide a full range of cooking utensils, plates and cutlery, along with basic ingredients such as salt & pepper, olive oil etc. The sitting area and kitchen open onto a large terrace overlooking the private pool and spacious garden. To one side, there is a large table under cover next to a built-in BBQ. There is a shower with warm water and a toilet in the garage next to the pool and terrace for our guests' convenience. In the main house, there are four bedrooms. The two double rooms have dressing rooms and en-suite bathrooms with both bath and shower, and one of the twin rooms has its own en-suite with shower. The fourth bedroom is also a twin. The studio apartment has wonderful glass doors that overlook the swimming pool and garden. Alongside the super king bed, it has a comfortable sitting area with sofas and armchairs, an en-suite bathroom, and a kitchenette with a sink and fridge. The region is a wonderful mix of French, Spanish and Basque culture, with fortified medieval towns offering weekly markets, numerous bistrots and wine bars, and of course delicious bakeries. With Biarritz and Bayonne only 50 minutes' drive away, and San Sebastian only marginally further, Lou Guit is an excellent base for exploring beaches, restaurants and world-class shopping and surfing. Alternatively, the city of Pau, also 50 minutes' drive, hosts high-quality horse racing and top-flight French and European rugby throughout the autumn and winter. The Pyrenees are on your doorstep, providing spectacular walking destinations throughout the year and skiing in the winter, with the resort of Gourette an hour's drive. Lou Guit offers something for everyone, and autumnal evenings spent curled up by the open Bearnais fireplace after a day's exploring are just as enjoyable as lazy summer nights luxuriating by the pool and BBQ.
