Room in Converted Stables with Kitchenette
Our home sits on the edge of Alton town, in a small close. It is a pleasant 15 minute walk to Market Street and about 25 minutes to the Station, with a direct line to London Waterloo. There are lots of lovely cafes and food stores. You will enjoy your Bedroom, with your own Bathroom, Kitchenette (small fridge, 2 ring electric hob, microwave, kettle, toaster) and Courtyard garden, if you so wish. The area has many walks and wonderful attractions to enjoy a short or long break with us. The room is airy and bright, quiet and pleasant, with double doors onto the Courtyard Garden, which can be used by our guests. The Sofa Bed can be used as a Single or as a Double, comfortably. There is a working table with a light and chair, a wardrobe with plenty of space to store your clothes and luggage. There are two side tables with lights as well as a central light. There is an extra armchair in the room. Guests will have access to the annexe through our Utility and Kitchen. Guests are welcome to request the use of the washing machine, once a week, and we will do this for them, if we are there. Otherwise, instructions will be left. If we are away, access to your accommodation will be via our key safe just outside the Utility door. We will be available to help you out with anything you need, but we would other wise leave you alone to enjoy your stay! If we happen to be away during your stay, we will leave plenty of instructions and contact details. Our close of seven houses, is quiet with no street lights, very friendly and safe and with beautiful views of the countryside. The market town of Alton offers a delightful mix of historic buildings and modern shops and arcades. It is well known for its regular Tuesday market day as well as other markets and fairs. The village of Chawton, famously the home of Jane Austen, is nearby and you can follow a circular walk from Chawton to Upper Farringdon, past places of interest that Jane Austen knew. The Watercress Line steam railway goes from Alton, trundling through pleasant country side, through the village of Ropley and on to Alresford. The Sun Inn in Bentworth is a favourite and beautiful pub, which can be reached in under an hour's walk from our home or a seven minute drive. There are plenty of other pubs in the town of Alton and the surrounding areas, with good food and drinks, to enjoy during your visit. If you arrive by car, you will be able to access plenty of attractive sites, and visit places further afield from Alton. Selborne, is a very pretty village, worth a visit. It is 14 minutes away form us. If you arrive by train, Alton station is the end of the line from Waterloo/Clapham Junction and takes just over an hour. We would be happy to pick you up, but there are taxis at very low cost, if you don't have your own transport. The walk from the Station to our home, takes around 25 minutes. The buses from Alton town head out to other places of interest: Winchester, via Jane Austen's House Museum in Chawton, New Alresford, Guildford and Haslemere.
