New forest shepherds hut, idyllic woodland retreat
This is a custom built shepherds hut in our secluded private woodland with direct access on to the open forest. It can be warm and cosy with a log fire in the woodburner, or open the stable door to let the outside in. Alternatively sit outside on the wooden decking with a fire pit in the evenings. There is a 'camp kitchen' with a gas barbecue, fridge, butler sink and covered seating area, or walk to one of our local pubs for lunch or supper. There is an outside tap and electricity on site. The hut is amazingly cosy with a wood burning stove and an electric blanket in winter, it is beautifully furnished and sited in a patch of private woodland. There is electricity to the hut, a mains water tap, an outside decking area with seating, also a fire pit for the evenings. We have built a camp kitchen with a gas barbecue and lit covered dining area. You have the use of a bathroom in our house complete with a waterfall shower and there is a outside privy in the wood. You will be living with nature literally on your doorstep. Deer are regular visitors, a badger trots through the wood most evenings and our cows and horses in the next door field are always interested in what you are up to! You have access to an on site camp kitchen, a privy in the wood and an outdoor hot shower. There is parking at the house and we provide a wheel barrow for you to move in your luggage and provisions down to the hut at your pre arranged check in time. This is our home and we have livestock so we are always here or certainly not too far away if necessary, but you will be totally self contained once you are on site. Although I am on hand to help in any way I can, whether it's where to walk, eat or to help light your first fire! You never tire of walking out on to the New Forest. It is always beautiful, whatever the season or weather. Not only is there the breathtaking scenery, but there are always animals and birds to watch in their natural habitat. There are some great pubs within walking distance. The nearest is Rockingham Arms, Wellow (I would recommend booking a table if you like the look of it) which is about 20 minutes from the back gate across the forest. Then there is The Lamb, Nomansland and The Royal Oak, Fritham. These are a bit further but worth the effort! Within easy driving distances you can visit the Cathedral cities of Salisbury and Winchester, the ports of Southampton and Lymington and any of the New Forest towns and villages such as Lyndhurst, Brockenhurst and Burley. Your car can be parked at the house so that you can walk up and use it as required. Bikes are a great way to explore the forest. Look at the Forestry commission site and Wiltshire cycle ways. There are also bike hire companies locally and riding stables (best to pre book). It can be wet and muddy at any time of year so be sure to bring waterproofs and wellies just in case. Flip flops or crocs are great to slip on quickly for a trip to the loo. If you bring your dog it is advisable to bring their cage as we have chickens, Guinea fowl and cows and the forest animals are free roaming. That way you can relax too! Fire safety - open fires can only be lit in the fire pit. All fires must be burnt out or extinguished before leaving them or sleeping. Do not try to dry any items on the woodburner or over the fire, please ask me to dry any items in the house if necessary.
