With an eclectic mix of independent shops, cafes and microbrewery's, its not hard to see why Hebden Bridge was voted winner in Small Market Towns category of the Great British High Street awards. The town centre is the hive of the community, where you can often find incredible buskers who you would expect to hear on the radio! There is plenty of outdoor seating, to ease the legs of walkers, runners, cyclists and visiting tourists, who come to browse in its independent shops from traditional butchers and bakers to fair-trade goods and organic foods, bicycle and camping/outdoors shops, and small shops devoted to an eclectic range of vintage and handmade items. There is an outdoor market every day between Thursday and Sunday with a rotating theme (farmer's market, flea market, crafts market) At night the clubs and bars offer anything from the traditional Yorkshire pint to friendly micropubs, some with gastronomic delights and real local ales. Hebden Bridge is traditionally noted to be particularly good for music too, with the Trades club voted Music Week's Best Small Music venue in the UK (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) and shortlisted for NME Best Small Music Venue (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) and (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) Go for a walk up the hill and enter different worlds, pass through zones of woodland, patchwork fields lined with dry-stone walls and dotted with big old farmhouses, to the wild heather and bilberry-strewn moorland where you'll have your cobwebs blown away, maybe to the haunting sound of curlews. Then look back to fantastic far range views of distant hills, often bathed in a beautiful light. Trains direct from Leeds or Manchester Victoria into Hebden Bridge station, or a drive to either take just under an hour. Then a 10 minute walk, or bus ride to the house (buses leave station and drop off right outside house every half hour). If driving, we are about 35 mins from Junction 24 of the M62 motorway.
