99 Charming holiday house in center of Ypres
Ipericus is located in the center of Ypres next to the ancient city walls dating back to the Middle Ages. You're close to the market, extremely close to the walls and with plenty of parking space in the neighborhood. Built in 1922 right after WW1. Built in 1921 right after WW1, this house is a typical one. During the renovation as much original elements were preserved to give you a taste of how people lived back then (but upgraded and enlarged to accommodate our current needs of course). The housefront itself is protected by law and considered to be part of the Ypres architectural patrimony. During the autumn and summer you will find a table and chairs outside on the small courtyard to enjoy breakfast, a coffee or have a smoke. The complete house is yours to use, except for the heating room and the fire safety section where all has been in place to keep your stay safe and warm. And I would like to keep it that way :). Heating is included in the price but during the winter months all heating costs above 10 euro per day will be charged separately. In other words: be smart and don't excessively heat the house when you are out and about in town or elsewhere :). If you use these simple guidelines you should not excess the cost of 10 euro per day (I checked it myself to have an idea of how much one spends per day when not leaving the doors open etc. It worked out perfectly). When possible I'll be present to welcome you and give you a small tour of the house plus instruct you of the safety regulations in place. I'm very familiar with the region and the history of WW1 and WW2 and it will be a pleasure to point you out a few things which you won't hear or find that quickly in the touristic info available. It's oh so calm yet in the center of a city. The fact that it is so close to the old city walls and its huge park was for me the reason to come and live here. Upon arrival I suggest you have a look at the walls and the view. Parking is very easy in the neighborhood, during the day people come in to park and go to work, but before 8:30 and after 16:00 it shouldn't be a problem to park your car in front or very close by. If needed I will accompany you to point out where you can park the easiest. Public transport to all kind of cities around is available 5 min from here on foot at the marketplace. Once you contact me to confirm your booking I will provide you with an itinerary to find the house. - I'm at your disposal for information and tips for good restaurants, cosy coffee bars etc.
