A Room with a View in Chipping Norton
We'd love to welcome you to our light and airy double room and private bathroom on the top floor of our comfortable, quiet townhouse in the charming Cotswold market town of Chipping Norton. An ideal base for enjoying the beautiful countryside on our doorstep, the cosy pubs, theatre, individual shops, coffee shops and restaurants in town, we offer the perfect place to soak up the unique atmosphere of this vibrant town in its lovely landscape . There is a comfortable double bed with fresh white cotton sheets, plenty of storage space in the spacious room and a tray for making hot drinks. A microwave is available on request. Spectacular countryside views can be enjoyed from the south-facing window. The bathroom is fully tiled with a shower over bath, a heated towel rail and a window overlooking the quiet residential street. A parking space for one car is available on our drive, plus on-street parking for an additional car. The town-centre is just a short walk away. There are buses to Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon and Banbury, local taxi services and train stations at Charlbury and Kingham. Mike and I are both self-employed and generally work from home, so we'll be able to welcome you here on arrival, show you your room and of course will be more than happy to answer any questions. We may not be at the house for all of your stay, but we will be in the locality and contactable by mobile. We have one (very shy) cat who you are unlikely to meet, but no other pets. We'll give you a front door key so that you can come and go as you please. A kettle, tea and coffee will be provided in your room. With antique shops, an independent bookshop, monthly farmers' market, sports centre (pool and gym), open-air Chippy Lido, local theatre and annual town festivals (Literary, Music, Arts) and the Cornbury Festival, Big Feastival and the Wilderness Festival nearby, there is usually plenty going on in and around Chipping Norton. (Note that some events may be cancelled due to Covid-19) There are several National Trust properties nearby as well as the mysterious Rollright Stones to explore. The Cotswold Way lies to the west of Chipping Norton, winding its way through historic sites and picturesque villages, as well as many fantastic local footpaths accessible from our doorstep. The magnificent Blenheim Palace is just 20 minutes away in Woodstock; the Royal Shakespeare Company is 35 minutes away in Stratford Upon Avon; Oxford, with its historic colleges, fabulous Ashmolean Museum and numerous shops, theatres and cinemas is 40 minutes by car, 1 hour by bus, and 15 minutes by train (from Charlbury Station).
