Reputedly one of the oldest houses in the village, this traditional Norfolk cottage is as pretty as a picture, with a flint walled cottage garden to the front, and climbing roses around the windows. Once inside the front door, you will be charmed by the delightfully cosy rooms that are brim full of character with fireplaces, beams, Pamment flooring, the odd curved wall, a sloping floor or two, latch doors and pretty floral wallpapers. Thankfully the staircases are straight (there are two staircases and one is particularly steep), the furniture very comfortable, the antique style beds have mattresses that will guarantee you a good night’s rest; and the kitchen is very well-equipped. With three bedrooms, two bathrooms (one has a fabulous Fired Earth slipper bath), a spacious sitting room with dining area as well as a snug/study, this lovely cottage will appeal to couples, a small family, or a few friends. The village itself boasts a fine deli - Picnic Fayre, a fantastic smokehouse serving great local produce and the windmill for fine dining. You’re also well located to explore the coast in either direction and can use the Coasthopper bus for transportation if you want to leave your car at home. Additional Information Two well behaved dogs are welcome (small additional charge). The owner has installed a hands-free anti-bac dispenser by the front door. Access Note: There are lots of different levels and steps between most of the rooms, The stairs are steep, particularly the front stairs, which are also open tread. There is a door at the top of this staircase. Duvets and pillows are synthetic. Ground Floor: Entrance Hallway With Pamment flooring, and settle bench with cushions. Steep open tread stairs lead to second twin bedroom. Sitting / dining room A really cosy, comfortable room a large wood burning stove and windows overlooking the front garden. At the dining end there is an oak table seating six and a second brick fireplace (unused). Kitchen A well equipped kitchen with electric oven, induction hob and extractor fan, microwave, fridge with icebox and Bosch washer/dryer. A barn door leads into the walled courtyard with teak furniture and planters and a half glazed side entrance door leads into a public cobbled pathway (Loke). Shower room With tiled shower cubicle, wash basin and WC. Snug/study A pretty room with windows overlooking the garden and village road, with small desk, armchair and understairs cupboard housing extra small fridge with icebox freezer. First Floor: Twin bedroom A charming room with full-size single twin antique style brass and metal bedsteads. Master bedroom With an antique style brass and metal double bedstead. Hairdryer. A latch door leads into the Jack and Jill bathroom. Twin bedroom With full-size single twin antique style brass and metal bedsteads. One doorway leads into the Jack and Jill bathroom, and a further doorway opens to the steep staircase to the ground floor. Jack and Jill family bathroom With a fabulous Fired Earth slipper bath with hand-held shower attachment, wash basin, freestanding towel rail, separate closet with WC. There is a wardrobe for the master bedroom and a cupboard which stores an extending stairgate and travel cot. Outside: There is a fully enclosed flint walled cottage garden to the front of the house, and a small high walled courtyard outside the kitchen, with garden furniture, planters, outside tap and charcoal barbecue. No parking immediately outside the cottage. There is limited roadside parking nearby, but the village gets very busy in summer. Free unlimited parking a five minute walk away at 'The Fairstead', by the village hall (signposted). Cley-next-the-Sea is a popular holiday destination, and bustles with visitors almost all year round. There's an excellent delicatessen, Picnic Fayre and local smokehouse just around the corner, as well as a Cley Windmill for fine dining. There are also a few cafes, The George & Dragon and the Pinkfoot Gallery within easy walking distance. You can pick up the North Norfolk coastal path from the village, take a stroll to the Norfolk Wildlife Trust's oldest and best-known nature reserve and its Visitor Centre, or catch the Coasthopper bus service and take a ride to the other lovely villages along the coast. The beautiful Georgian market town of Holt - only three miles inland - is a popular shopping destination, and well worth a visit. There are beautiful walks along the beach and through the salt marshes and excellent birdwatching.
