Located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, less than a 2-minute walk from the picturesque beach at Freshwater Bay, this delightful holiday home is ideal for a couple, whether it be for a full week’s holiday or just a short break. ’Bakers Retreat’ can be found within the beautiful grounds of the owner’s Grade II listed property and is the perfect base for exploring all that the western side of the island has to offer. If you enjoy walking, starting practically from the doorstep, you can pick up the Tennyson Trail and visit the monument upon Tennyson Down, where you can enjoy panoramic views over the English Channel, as well as mile after mile of magnificent coastal paths all the way to the island’s iconic ’Needles’ landmark. The property is roughly 3 miles from the quaint harbour town of Yarmouth and the fantastic Totland Bay is less than 2 miles, where you will find a bar, restaurant and a café to try the local seafood, experience some of the finest sunsets or enjoy a stroll along to neighbouring Colwell Bay. There are spectacular views across the Solent to mainland England, with clear, calm waters and gently sloping sand and shingle beach. The island has become a real hot spot for cycling enthusiasts with a choice of challenging off road bridleways, peaceful byways and level purpose-made tracks running along its former railway lines. Take on the full round the island route, which is 66 miles long and is used for the annual Isle of Wight cycle event the ’Randonnee’ held over the May bank holiday. You can also travel along the route at a more leisurely pace and along the way you will find numerous restaurants, pubs and cafés, amongst the quaint villages and towns serving tasty local produce. One of the Isle of Wight’s best kept secrets, Compton Beach is a very short drive away and offers a two mile stretch of contrasting dark and golden sands, with rolling seas, and a stunning backdrop of multi-coloured sandstone cliffs, highly popular with surfers, you will likely see kite surfing and paragliders, in and above the water. It’s also a great place to go fossil hunting, as you can book tours on the beach to see the dinosaur footprints in the sandstone ledge at Hanover Point that are exposed at low tide. Whatever you decide, one thing is for sure, the Isle of Wight has plenty to offer. Beach 5 minutes walk away. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile. Grocer (Orchards) and a cafe (The Piano Bar) both within five minutes walk. Free WiFi
