Beautifully rural, yet within easy reach of Central London, Gatwick, Heathrow and the Channel ports. Chartwell, Hever, Penshurst and Down are all very close; Leeds Castle, Ightham Mote, Sissinghurst within an hour's drive. Sleeps up to 10. Private Dining by prior arrangement. The main farmhouse was built sometime between 1390 and 1410, with various more recent additions throughout the centuries, culminating with the recently completed guest accommodation. There are a number of Victorian outbuildings, including a traditional Kentish oasthouse. We run a productive kitchen garden, a cobnut platt and opened an outdoor, solar heated swimming pool in June 2016 (usually open June - September). We even have our own ‘henge’, a group of sitting stones at the top of the hill, reputedly installed by a Victorian farmer so he could picnic with his family and survey his land. There are some beautiful walks in the local area and in the summer there may the opportunity to play on our grass tennis court. Chartwell is walkable (uphill there!), Hever Castle is a 10 minute drive. Also close by are Down, Penshurst, Ightham Mote and several other historic houses. We have guests visiting Biggin Hill to fly Spitfires, and others passing through on their way to or from Gatwick. Central London is 35-40 minutes by train. We are ideally situated for walkers, and the Vanguard Way passes through the farm. There are lots of lovely country pubs to enjoy, including our village local which is walkable via a bridleway. We offer Private Dining by prior arrangement to guests staying two nights for between 8 and 10 adults, subject to availability. We are in a very rural corner of the Kent/Surrey border and would recommend you have access to a car. However, you can easily get a taxi here from Oxted or Edenbridge stations. Please note that Uber doesn't operate here so if you need a taxi, it is advisable to book in advance. Please be aware that we have deliberately not provided tvs in any of the rooms. There is superfast wifi if you want to watch something on your laptop or tablet.
