It can accommodate several families, groups of friends or colleagues up to 26 people. The Gatehouse ... In the XIIIth century, the Gatehouse of Barbençon was guarding the entrance of a mighty castle. Its lords were respected within the entire Province and beyond, and their influence was large and far reaching. Seven centuries later, only part of the medieval walls and the Gatehouse itself remains. The Gatehouse was transformed in the first part of the XXth century and has been used as rentals and vacation houses ever since. Our four rentals "La Couronne d 'Or” (The Golden Crown),  “L'Ecu d'Argent” (The Silver Shield),  “La Chambre des Pairs”' (The House of Peers)  and  “Aux Trois Lions”' (The Three Lions) have  a capacity of 2, 5, 5 and 9 people respectively (+up to 2 persons in extra beds or sofa beds in each gites), and draw on the local medieval history to offer you a unique experience in all seasons. Full access to the entire property We usually welcome guests on the first day (or soon after, depending on the time of arrival) and we can offer advice and suggestions for the stay. We are not staying on site but we are available by phone or email for the duration of the stay. Barbençon ... Close to the French border, Barbençon is one of the prettiest villages in Wallonie. The surrounding countryside has plenty to offer: a rich cultural heritage, a colorful folklore, its medieval and Napoleonic history, and of course Belgian gastronomy. Whether you are in for sightseeing (Thuin, Chimay, Abbey of Aulnes, ...) or for outdoor activities (hiking, (mountain)biking, fishing, water sports, ...), Barbençon is the ideal starting point. 4 km from Beaumont. Bus stop from / to Beaumont at 400m from our rental place but there are only a few buses per day. If you plan to come by public transport, plan your trip well in advance and check the public transport schedule and availability. Private parking on site. Sheets and towels are not included in the price, but we can arrange their rental for a cleaning fee of 10Eur per person for the set, or 5 Eur per person for the sheets and 5 Eur per person for the towels.
