Withy Farm

Withy Farm is a rural small holding and family home. Hugh & Sarah live in the house and manage it as a traditional style guest house. The surrounding area offers footpaths and bridal-paths through farmland and ancient woodland. The house provides large communal spaces including the heart of the house, an open plan hall / kitchen / dining area. Also a large living room with log burner. Outside there is a terrace with views across the paddocks where cattle sheep and goats may be seen grazing Location Withy Farms is in situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Walking from the farm guests can enjoy the beautiful Kent countryside, including walks through orchards, open valleys and ancient woodlands. Horse rides and cycling are also great ways to see the local area. We can accommodate horses by arrangement. Activities on the Farm Guests would be welcome to help out with feeding animals on the farm if they wish. Guests may also enjoy the small scale aquaponic systems that we have been experimenting with. We also experiment with smoking food, and would be happy to share our experience and may be even smoke something to eat while you are here. Food As a standard we offer a simple continental style breakfast. We can also offer other breakfast options, lunches, packed lunches, diners and suppers by arrangement. Meals can could include our own home produced meats and sausages. The accommodation We have rebuilt / renovated the house since 2015 to make it more efficient (close to Passivhaus standards) with triple glazing throughout. A farm stay does not need to be a return to the old days when it comes to creature comforts. all bedrooms have en-suite shower rooms / toilets. Rooms 3 and 4, share a 'Jack and Jill' en-suite which is ideal for families. They can be let separately, then one room would be given sole use of the main family bathroom across the hall. The most special point of visiting Withy Farm is its rural location. However we are only an hour from London by train so we offer a good base from which to explore our great capital city. Canterbury is our local city only 8 miles away. Canterbury is a fantastic place for tourists, including the obvious Canterbury Cathedral which is a must see if you are in the area. The kent coast line also offers some great walks and towns to visit. These include Faversham (6 miles) Whiststable 11 miles) Margate (26 miles) and Ramsgate (29 miles) We are also only 30 mins from the Channel Tunnel Station so taking car day trips to France and Belgium are within easy striking distance (prior bookings would be essential). Travelling by car is the easiest way to get here and travel around the wider areas. Though once here, there are miles of walks to be explored on our doorstep. We are located only 2 to 3 miles from 2 mainline stations both of which service London and the South Coast. We may be able to provide a pick up and drop off service to and from the stations by arrangement. Please be aware that you are not booking a whole house as a private destination, you are booking into a family friendly guest house. We encourage our guests (especially youngsters) to get involved with animals on site for instance helping out with feeding.
