Parsley Barn - Private Wing with Two Bedrooms
Parsley Barn, home of David and Su’en Miller, is a converted former coach house and stables fronting onto a quiet road in Great Massingham, 12 miles east of King’s Lynn and 9 miles to Sandringham. You will occupy a private wing comprising 2 charming bedrooms, games room with full-sized Snooker Table, garden room cum kitchenette-diner plus a private rear garden. For breakfast you can choose from freshly baked bread, croissants, pain au chocolat, cereals, fruit, yoghurt and homemade preserves. Deceptively plain from the road side, Parsley Barn consists of two leafy courtyards, the second of which will be your own personal space during your stay with us. You will occupy a suite of rooms in what our daughter Hanna jokingly describes as the South Wing. Our regular guests all call it the Snooker Wing because they love the Snooker table! Garden Room cum Kitchenette-Diner: A light, bright room with glass double doors leading out to the two courtyards, furnished with dining table & chairs, a comfortable sofa, fridge, and a breakfast sideboard. Also equipped with a microwave oven, kettle, toaster and Nespresso coffee machine. A new kitchen sink has been installed to make washing up a lot easier. The latest addition of a Morphy Richards 28L Mini Oven with Hob (2 hot plates) means guests are able to cook simple meals. For breakfast you can choose from freshly baked bread & croissants/pain au chocolat, fruit, fruit juice, Su'en's special granola and muesli, yoghurt and homemade preserves. Bedroom 1 HAYLOFT ROOM: a freshly-decorated bedroom with a double bed with its own shower and basin, and a flat-screen TV. It features an original hayloft where hay was kept for the cattle! Bedroom 2 DOVECOTE ROOM: a bedroom with two single beds, with its own basin and dressing table. A very pretty room featuring the original openings for the doves , now securely sealed with glass – no doves inside the bedroom! Facilities for Babies & Young Children: A travel cot, baby bath and high chair are available upon request. But guests will need to bring their own baby blanket and baby toiletries. Bathroom: large bathroom with separate bath and shower, and basin. Separate WC: next door to HAYLOFT ROOM and bathroom. Games room: a fabulous oak-beamed games room with a dart board and full-sized snooker table on which you are more than welcome to pot a few blacks. Outside: The rear garden accessed from the garden room will be your private space – lovely to sit out to enjoy breakfast or a cup of tea or drinks in the evening. There is ample parking next to the barn. You will have private access to your accommodation at all times via a door from the central courtyard. We are fully aware that you might be looking for well-earned peace and quiet on your Norfolk visit – in which case we’ll gladly melt into the background until required. But otherwise we will be on hand to answer any questions you might have, or to make suggestions for visits to places of interest. Great Massingham is widely acknowledged to be one of the most beautiful villages in East Anglia. Famed for its extensive greens and with no fewer than seven duck ponds, the largest of which could accurately be described as lakes, it is a thriving community with a Village Shop plus Post Office, a soaring fourteenth century church overlooking the green, and a popular gastro-pub called (inevitably) The Dabbling Duck. Massingham is the ideal base to explore the stunning North Norfolk countryside and coast. Skirting the village is a mysterious pre-Roman trackway called The Peddars Way, which offers fabulous walking and/or cycling for the more active amongst us, and which links up eventually with the North Norfolk Coastal Path. Like so many villages nationwide, Massingham lost its regular bus service many years back, so we’re afraid that a car (or a well-maintained bike and a pair of strong legs) are a virtual necessity for exploring the immediate area. However, there are limited bus services to and from the village to King’s Lynn, where you can pick up The Coast Hopper, a frequent and reliable bus service that visits all the main coastal villages in turn, and is much loved by walkers. Sorry, we don’t allow pets - our cats and chickens would object! Important: If you have any dietary requirements or allergies, please inform me upon booking. Thank you.
