Converted Granary, South Downs nr Goodwood
The Old Granary is just across the courtyard from our farm house and is totally self contained. It is a huge open plan room with exposed beams, wooden floor, rugs, an extremely comfortable sofa bed, a mezzanine with two single mattresses suitable for agile extra guests, a kitchenette and a lovely shower room. There is an enormous bookcase which guests are welcome to borrow from during their stay and a equally large flat screen TV with Sky. The double sofa bed has a mattress topper and is incredibly comfortable. There is a steep set of stairs that access the open mezzanine so the single beds are only suitable for agile guests who are not going to sleepwalk! Good head height though and again comfy mattresses with duvets and blankets. There is tea, coffee, (Nespresso machine) milk and sugar in the kitchenette for you to help yourself. NB there are no cooking facilities in the barn. Most of our guests take advantage of the fabulous pubs in the area as well as a decent selection of takeaways! We provide homemade granola, yoghurt and fruit compote, croissant and jam as well as a pint of milk to get you started! The accommodation is across the courtyard from the main house. The driveway is shared. In the summer, breakfast can be taken outside with views of the Downs to greet you over your granola! We will try to be there to meet you when you arrive and would be delighted to help you with pub recommendation, walking routes or any other local information you may require. East Harting is at the foot of the South Downs. The walking is endless and breathtaking. Goodwood race course and motor circuit is 20 minutes away, Cowdray Polo is 15 minutes away. There are 3 excellent pubs within striking distance and Chichester with its renown theatre and cathedral is just over the top of The Downs. Petersfield is the nearest train station (10 mins) with all the facilities you would expect from a busy country town. There is an excellent village shop in South Harting (2 mins). To access all the miles of footpaths on the Downs, there is a National Trust car park 5 minutes away, or for the fabulously fit, you can access a footpath straight from the house and walk right up the side of The Downs. I have a very friendly spaniel and a cat who will be around the garden. We are strictly no pets, not because we don't love them, just because we have enough already!
