Our own restoration has given this wagon lots of individual character with vintage and antique furniture. Our wagon is ideal for couples looking for that romantic stay, nestled into the hillside and surrounded by picturesque countryside. The hand-crafted seat tucked into the bank is the perfect spot to watch the sun go down or snuggle around the firepit with a glass of wine toasting marshmallows and just relax! Inside the wagon you'll have all the comforts you can't live without! Our Ploughman's Retreat offers luxury accommodation for 2. There's a handmade kingsize bed, ensuite bathroom with a great shower and flushing toilet. We provide a welcome pack of locally made toiletries. The kitchen area has an electric hob, fridge, Dualit kettle & toaster, Nespresso coffee machine. Cooking utensils along with all plates, cutlery, mugs are all supplied. The living area has a cosy woodstove, table and chairs with a plentiful supply of free logs. There's even back-up electric heating! Outside is a log store, table and chairs and an excellent firepit that can be used to barbeque too! Short break offers on 2 or more nights. Guests can pre-order a breakfast hamper and packed lunches. There's access to our farm to see the sheep and horses or just enjoy our views! Parking is next to the wagon. On arrival come to the farmhouse and Wendy will take you to the wagon. You'll have fresh cake, tea, coffee and milk and farm fresh eggs in your welcome pack at the wagon. The Alkham Valley is between Dover and Folkestone in an 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty'. There are country walks, horse riding locally. A coast-line of historic castles and the famous walk along the 'White Cliffs of Dover'. The cathedral city of Canterbury is just 20 minutes drive away. We provide maps and leaflets on places to visit in the wagon. We are 10 minutes drive from the towns of Folkestone and Dover with taxis available in both towns. Limited buses through the Alkham Valley. Train stations at Folkestone Central or Dover Priory and then a taxi to Alkham. Dogs are welcome but must be arranged with Wendy before arrival. There is a small charge.
