Granny Higgins Cottage

Newly renovated Granny Higgins Cottage is situated on the very edge of Ballisodare village. On its own ground, it has private off road parking, a lawned area to the front and side and a lovely private area at the back. Ideal for relaxing and outdoor dining while you enjoy the views of the surrounding mountains and woods. Five minutes walk to the village main street that has takeaways, pub, cafe, salons, a supermarket, a garden center and a leisure complex with swimming pool. A great base from which to explore all that Sligo has to offer. A short distance to all of the most popular attractions in the area. 5mls to Sligo Town with its great shopping and its award winning pubs and restaurants. 7 miles to Strandhill with its busy surf schools and golf course, (Website hidden by Airbnb) mls to Dooney Rock and Slish Wood on the shores of Lough Gill, 6 mls to The National Mountain Bike Centre in Coolaney with routes suitable for all ages and fitness levels. A few minutes walk to Union Wood, with its miles of tracks and trails and which also has part of the route of The Sligo Way. For anyone attending a wedding or a family function in one of our local hotels, it is 2.5 mls to Markree Castle Hotel, and 4 mls to Castledargan Hotel and Golf Course. We will be available for our guests and we look forward to helping you in every way we can. We are the fourth generation of our family to own Granny Higgins Cottage and in our renovation we have retained some furniture, fittings and knick knacks as a reminder of people and times past. We hope that you enjoy this mix of old and new. and we are really hopeful that you will get a cosy, homely feel during you stay at the cottage. As was often the way with some of these old cottages the doorways were lower than what we have become accustomed to today. We would just like to point out to guests that the back door into the kitchen area has a step down and low headroom at about 1.75m. Also, we retained the original internal doors which are slightly lower than the modern standard height.
