Endless tourist attractions & local pubs within easy access. Oak Tree Retreat is a stunning pod that has been designed for those looking to escape the ways of normal life. The hand built cabin has been well thought out with soft lighting and table lamps to create a cosy environment. Oak Tree Retreat will ensure you:- Wake up to stunning views of wild flowers in the summer and frosty fields in the winter and stunning sunsets Wrapping up in warm woollies for long winter walks or taking advantage of the outdoor sitting area to take in the long summer days. Peak District Christmas Markets Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall decorated for Christmas There is a shower room with an off-grid Cinderella Toilet, renowned for its sustainable and environmentally friendly performance. It is easy to use and requires a small supplied paper sheet to be placed in the bowl before use making it hygienic and clean. A press of a button and everything is gone. No cleaning, no smells, no emptying required. PLEASE NOTE THERE ARE NO CURTAINS THROUGHOUT THE RETREAT. THIS IS TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE TRULY PRIVATE AND STUNNING PANORAMIC VIEWS . This retreat is fully heated and is a warm and cosy place to come for the winter and equally a beautiful and stunning setting for summer. The retreat is situated in a private area and is not overlooked. You may wish to bring an eye mask if you do not wish for mother nature to wake you up. With underfloor heating, fur throws and an outside fire, you'll stay toasty and warm throughout. For warmer days, a fan is on hand to keep the retreat cool. (please do request this if it is needed for any other times of the year). Towels, sheets and special toiletries are provided. Private parking for the Retreat There is a nearby train station and bus stop. The owners of the pod live at the main house and the pod is managed by Penny at Brosterfield Farm. It is our intention that you are well equipped with an accommodation that will service your every need and all the information you need for your stay, hence we leave you to it. Most visitors are surprised to learn that the Heights is in fact the Derbyshire’s oldest tourist attraction, first opening as a Pleasure Ground in 1780 when visitors would make the climb from the valley floor on foot to witness some of the finest views across the surrounding area. The cable cars now mean visitors reach the top without such effort, but the reward is the same as the views remain truly breathtaking. Over two centuries later you are still able to wander around the estate with its zigzag paths and woodland trails and it is easy to understand why the area proved inspirational to the Romantic movement of the period. Oak Tree Retreat is a property that we manage for the owners and should you need us, either ourselves or the owners are happy to help.
