Private Suite (Self Contained), Priory Barn

We have a lovely private suite of rooms with double bedroom (with king size bed), shower room and sitting room on the ground floor of our family home (own door to the rear of Priory Barn). We live in a beautiful Grade II listed converted barn in the village of Alvescot, West Oxfordshire. There are a number of delicious local takeaways who will deliver to this location. Also the local pub provide a collection service from their Covid menu (5 min walk). Located on the ground floor of Priory Barn. The suite is accessed via its own door situated to the rear of Priory Barn (so coronavirus friendly). A very private suite of rooms to include one bedroom with king size bed, separate shower room with basin and loo and sitting room. The shower room is on the small size but does have an excellent shower! The sitting room has a large TV with freeview sofa coffee making facilities. The suite is at one end of the house on the ground floor with a door which closes off the main area of the ground floor to yours, so you feel you have plenty of privacy. If you prefer you have your own door outside which takes you to rear of Priory Barn. We are happy for you to use either entrance. There are lots of lovely cafes in local villages where you can get breakfast. We also have an excellent village pub. Please note there are tea/coffee making facilities and a small fridge located in the sitting room which guests are welcome to use. We do provide a selection of biscuits / cereals / yogurts / juice which guests can help themselves to. I will always be on hand to help guests with any queries they have and can provide lots of information about places to visit, where to eat, go for walks etc. Please just ask me - if you're visiting during peak times I can email you suggestions and make bookings for you too if required. Things to Do and See (here are just a few suggestions!) We are 5 miles from the picturesque town of Burford, 4 miles from Lechlade on Thames and 3 miles from Bampton (where many scenes from the TV drama Downton Abbey, were filmed). There is a wonderful garden centre in Burford (Burford Garden Company), many nearby beautiful gardens/stately homes and old manor houses (Friar’s Court, Kelmscott Manor, Buscot Park, Blenheim Palace etc). There are also lots of stunning walks along the Thames and of course right on our own doorstep we have miles of countryside. Please do just ask us for further information and directions. If you are out on a local walk – look out for Gary Barlow (of the boy band Take That!) and family – they have a house in our village! Eating Out – we are spoilt for choice; The local village pub, The Plough serves lovely pub food and is a short 5 minute walk away. Other good pubs in neighbouring villages are: The Bell in Langford (booking strongly advised) The Five Alls in Filkins The Plough in Clanfield The Plough in Kelmscott The Lamb in Burford The Trout at Tadpole Bridge near Buckland There is an excellent Spanish Tapas bar/restaurant in Faringdon called La Bobina. One of our favourite’s! The Snooty Meehan on the A420 near Buckland does great Indian and Thai food. Plus many more we can recommend, please just ask. There are various take away restaurants (Chinese/Indian/Fish and Chips/Domino’s Pizzas) – please just ask for menus/details. The nearest town for supermarkets/chemist is Carterton (2 miles away). A little further away is Oxford, Cheltenham and Bicester Outlet Village. Nearest Cinema is in Witney Excellent local taxi company is Charlie’s (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) (the postcode is OX18 2QA however, you must state near Oakey Close as the SatNav tends to take you to the other end of the village!) Other things to note We have a working cocker spaniel called Binky - she is very friendly, great with other dogs and young children Priory Barn, Lower End, Alvescot, OX18 2QA - turn off main road into Lower End and half way down take the road that forks to the right (sat nav will take you left, ignore this!). Priory Barn is second on the right with large wooden electric gates which open automatically.
