The Oaks offering a very personal service
Set in a tranquil, half-acre garden, The Oaks is the former infirmary of the old Swaffham Workhouse now offering excellent value B&B. Situated at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac, The Oaks caters for just one couple at any one time. It offers a very personalised service to ensure privacy and security for our guests. This also ensures guests don’t need to worry about social distancing from others. The guest suite has a double bedroom with king-size bed, and a private bathroom directly opposite, with a large roll top bath, and a double shower. There are tea and coffee making facilities in the bedroom. Guests have the sole use of a large sitting and dining room with views over the garden. The television has a dvd player, complete with a wide selection of dvds. If you’re too tired to venture out in the evening, you can hunker down with a take away, put your feet up and watch a film. There is also unlimited wifi. Your hosts are always available to offer recommendations of places to visit, or eat, and are happy to be as much help to guests as possible. John is a keen sailor who owned a boatyard in Cornwall for many years. His interests also include classic cars, and learning about plants suitable for the conservatory. Marcia was a journalist before becoming a full-time novelist. Her interests include skiing, gardening, cooking, and the Old West. Beretta and Fabbri, the family’s black and white Springer Spaniels, will also make you welcome. Their interests include eating, chasing balls, long countryside walks, sleeping, and more eating. The Oaks is ideally suited for exploring the North Norfolk coast, west Norfolk, and The Fens. The glorious Holkham Beach, and Holkham Hall are just over half an hour’s drive, while the National Trust property Oxburgh Hall is only six miles away. Other nearby attractions include Sandringham, Hunstanton, Ely Cathedral, Norwich, Thetford Forest, numerous beaches, and Fakenham racecourse. Norfolk is also home to more than 650 churches – the greatest concentration of medieval churches in the world – and many of them are within easy reach of The Oaks. The university city of Cambridge is less than hour away. The Oaks is the green choice of accommodation. An air source heat pump, and solar panels and battery storage, mean that the house is carbon neutral for a good proportion of the year, and environmentally friendly all year around.
