No. 5 Flemish Cottage, Dedham
No. 5 is part of a historic medieval cloth factory, built c. 1450, located along a quiet lane a few minutes walk from the High Street. The cottage has recently been renovated and exudes country charm with exposed beams, an inglenook fireplace, blended with modern features. Dedham is nestled on the river Stour and has a mix of traditional pubs, restaurants, tearooms and shops. It is a great spot to start exploring the Essex/Suffolk countryside. Downstairs the cottage has a charming sitting room, Modern kitchen, separate dining room, lavatory and a coat and boot room. Upstairs has two spacious bedrooms, one with a king size bed the other with a double bed and a Trundle bed, which equates to two singles. The bathroom has a bath and a shower. A travel cot can be provided on request. There is private access to the property and off road parking for one large car. However, there is plenty of free parking nearby. One well behaved dog is welcomed and we would hope they would enjoy the large enclosed private garden. As hosts we do not live on site but we are only a stones throw away and welcome any questions, advice needed. Dedham is a quintessential countryside escape featuring a number of traditional pubs, tearooms, shops and more. You may choose to visit the magnificent church in the heart of the village or walk to the Munnings museum that features one of the largest collections of Sir A. Munnings' paintings. One of the main attractions is the river Stour, here you can rent a traditional rowing boat or bring your own paddle board or canoe. The river is a perfect spot for a picnic or walk the beautiful route to Flatford where you can see the Famous Willy Lott's Cottage painted by John Constable. If you park your car at the cottage you can take an easy 3 minute walk through Dedham park and find yourselves in the centre of the High St. As No. 5 is a medieval cottage, some of the doorways and beams are low in places.
