Cider House: Peaceful, rural on medieval farm in 8 acres of unspoilt countryside
Old Farm was built in 1345 by the monks of Glastonbury Abbey as a resting place for pilgrims. The farmhouse and the traditional farm buildings are English Heritage 2* status putting them in the top 5% of all listed buildings in the UK. They have now been subject to an award winning restoration around the original thatched house. The Cider House forms part of the former medieval farmyard is a lovely two bedroom cottage full of original features. This is a unique place, there's something about it's age, over 600 years old, it's beautiful position and it's direct historical link to Glastonbury abbey that makes it very restful. Guests are welcome to use the fields around the farm. There is a pond (unfenced) and outstanding views to Glastonbury Tor and across to Wells Cathedral. Old Farm is a family home and we have Arthur the donkey, 'Naughty' Laddie a shetland, the ever friendly Tori dog, moorhens and sheep (7 at last count!) all of which enjoy the company of our visitors. Perfect for either a relaxing countryside break or a more active holiday. There is a wealth of activites in the area suitable for all the family includng Longleat Safari Park, Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole, Glastonbury Abbey, Quadbiking, Horse Riding, aswell as a huge range of alternative therapies. We are in easy driving distane to Wells (10 mins), Bath (40 mins), Bristol (40 mins) and Weston Super Mare (30 mins) I
