The Boot Room at Sycamore Cottage
Sycamore Cottage is 300 years old and has been our home for ten years. Renovating this quintessential country cottage to very high standards using the best materials and local craftsmen has resulted in cosy and welcoming place to live and stay. The Boot Room, available for bed and breakfast, is our latest renovation and provides a warm and cosy retreat. Guests may share the cottage garden . This is perfect spot for enjoying rural Derbyshire All bookings are two nights minimum. *Guests will have their own off road , private parking space. * This private bedroom with ensuite, is situated at the east end of Sycamore Cottage. It is lockable and accessed by its own door from the outside. * Guests may access the dining area of the cottage (accessed from the main outside door to the cottage) at breakfast time only. * Guests may share with the owners, the garden and you will have your own outdoor table and chairs. Guests must , however , respect the tranquility of the lane and our neighbours. The owner will be there to welcome you into The Boot Room and will serve you breakfast in the dining area of Sycamore Cottage the following morning. She will be available to answer any questions during your stay and will gladly help you plan walks or meals out. The hamlet of Rowland is situated on a quiet country lane with a handful of other dwellings, in the heart of the Peak District, Derbyshire. We are surrounded by open countryside where fields are home to sheep, a milk herd and highland cattle. Nestled into the hillside below Longstone Edge where chickens roam the neighbouring gardens , Rowland is an idyllic and relaxing place to stay. The local closest hostelry can be found within walking distance just a mile away and is The White Lion at Great Longstone which is a smart country pub and presently has to be booked in advance. Hassop Station cafe is open until 9pm and is a 35 mins walk across fields and lies on the Monsal Trail. For more fine dining as well as traditional pub classics in a beautiful country pub, is The Devonshire Arms in the beautiful village of Beeley 6 miles away. If you like fine dining as well as pub classics but in a more bistro setting then Rowleys in Baslow is for you. Bakewell has a good Indian-rajhas and the Woodyard has an extensive menu and lies on the river. There are a few pubs in Bakewell too . In the summer, The Garden room at the Cavendish hotel in Baslow , has spectacular views over the Chatsworth estate but booking is essential at the moment. Supermarkets are three miles away at Bakewell or Calver. The Boot Room at Sycamore Cottage is set in the heart of the countryside in Rowland which is three miles away from the lively market town of Bakewell where buses run regularly to neighbouring villages, towns and the Chatsworth Estate. There are no buses running to Rowland so it is advisable to arrive by car or by taxi. Alternatively there is a very pleasant walk from Bakewell to Rowland taking you along the Monsal Trail , a disused railway line. Also on the Monsal Trail , one and a half miles away , bikes are for hire at Hassop Station where you can ride the eight and a half mile trail or venture further afield. Lifts may be arranged with the owners if possible , although this cannot be guaranteed. The Railway Station at Grindleford is 5 miles away where the Sheffield to Manchester cross country train stops regularly through the Hope Valley.
