Restful retreat in the heart of the countryside
One of a pair, a bespoke, newly constructed, environmentally friendly and cosy Shepherd's Hut, located in a quiet field with rural views and access to the nearby river Leven. With double bed, wood-burning stove, and two comfy armchairs. Just a few paces to the kitchen, shower and loos. Basic breakfast items are provided in the kitchen, for your arrival and first breakfast but you also have your own kettle and supplies to make tea and coffee in your own cabin. We aim to give a relaxing stay to guests. We offer healthy and environmentally-friendly living spaces and are happy to cater for vegetarian, plant based and gluten free diets. The kitchen and bathroom facilities are permanently heated and have copious amounts of hot water supplied by our ground source heating. We have several rescue hens and guests will be supplied with eggs when the girls are laying! The cabin has an integral double bed, with crisp hotel-standard bedding. The towels are soft and plush. There is storage under the bed, a built in table on which there is a kettle and all you need to make tea, coffee or a cold drink. There is also a radio. If you don't feel you need or want to light the wood-burning stove, you can plug in a small radiator to take any chill off in the cooler nights. The Facilities Suite (a very short amble from the cabin) houses a kitchenette with a two hob stove, a microwave, a washer and dryer, kettle and toaster. It is always at an ambient temperature thanks to ground source heating coming through the Yorkshire flags, and this also provides bags of hot water. Each of the two cabins has its own loo in the facilities suite (one suitable for disabled guests) with a shared shower room and two basins. In the event of rain, an umbrella (and also a torch) is provided for the short walk between the cabin and the Facilities Suite. Why not book both cabins for yourselves and friends or family and enjoy a group mini break? Guests park at the front of the owner's property. There is a large grassy area where the two cabins are located which is for the use of guests - it has a wooden table and four chairs for al fresco dining (which is stored away in the winter) and each cabin has its own table and two chairs located on the cabin's paved area. Guests can walk in the field and down to the river for a stroll, a picnic or a paddle We are available in person as we live on site or by email, text or phone The village of Great Ayton is a mile away to the east. If walking, it does mean 100 metres or so on the grass verge alongside the road and then pavement the rest of the way. From there you can head up to the north York moors or join a public footpath for a 3 mile walk to the market town of Stokesley to the west Car, cycle or on foot - the first 100 metres or so on foot into Great Ayton are on a grass verge alongside the road but thereafter pavement. Buses run from the village to Stokesley market town some three miles to the west and there is a Moors bus from there to outlying areas to the south and west We are constantly looking at ways of making our guests feel even more at home and comfortable. Keep the suggestions coming!
