This cosy self-contained private newly refurbished barn is found in a pretty village, nestling in a hollow away from busy roads and bustling towns. A country retreat with a friendly English pub/ restaurant just a short walk away. Now serving take away meals during Covid. You will find a welcome pack of tea, coffee milk, eggs, butter and snacks on arrival and the smell of your fresh bread as it finishes baking. The roomy barn is in the grounds of our 17th century farmhouse. The modern fitted kitchen with cooker, dishwasher, microwave etc is fully equipped for dining in. A fresh baked loaf awaits you. After your meal sink into the large deep leather sofa and watch the 37" TV or select a DVD. There is an electric fire with log effect to give that cosy feel on a winter's night. The separated bedroom, with adjoining (very small) ensuite and heated towel rail, has a comfortable double bed complete with electric blanket. Please note there is a deep pond adjacent to the cottage which would be a danger if you have a small child. There is a designated parking space for guests' use and you are welcome to walk through the garden and up through the paddock and over the stile into the fields. Broughton is surrounded by lovely footpaths and walks. In the summer, watch the colourful koi in the pond and the dragonflies hovering over the water. The swallows and their chicks swooping over the pond are a joy to watch. We are on hand for any queries or emergencies and can advise on local attractions. The village pub is just 100 metres along the road, serving local draught ales and great meals, so convenient and yet no noise can be heard. There is also a farm complex in the next village (Johnson's of Oldhurst) with a lovely farm shop. Several villages are just a 15 minute drive and the busway from historic market town of St.Ives to Cambridge is a great way to access the historic university city and enjoy punting on the river Cam. Or you can just chill and relax in comfortable pleasant surroundings away from the stress of modern life. Lovely country walks from the cottage. Own transport essential. Plenty of parking space on property Guests remark how quiet and peaceful they find the cottage. A perfect retreat from the stresses of life.
