A delightful old cottage overlooking The Green with a mix of antique, upcycled and vintage inspired decoration. The cottage is dog friendly, with a patio and large enclosed, secure garden. Close to the the town with all manner of restaurants and friendly hostelries. Many of our guests have used the cottage when they have had family weddings in the area. These venues include Crathorne Hall, chapters, Whinstone View, Treebridge Hotel and Judges. The decor is a mix of vintage and antique finds along with upcycled pieces I have collected over the years. A vintage inspired bathroom with a bathtub and a separate walk in shower cubicle. The kitchen has a range cooker and a cosy sitting area with a log burner and an outlook over the private patio and rear garden. At the front of the cottage overlooking The Green there is a cosy sitting room with a log burner. Guests will have the run of the whole cottage and a private garden and large patio area. We live a short distance from the property and are easily contactable by phone to answer any questions you may have. Stokesley is an elegant market town with impressive Georgian and Victorian buildings and known as a gateway to the North York Moors. The River Leven, crossed by the ancient Pack Horse Bridge, provides a perfect spot for walking and picnics. There spectacular views of Roseberry Topping and the North York Moors from the east end of the town. There are lots of independent shops and small cafes, numerous places to eat and quirky bars and pubs catering for all tastes. The seaside town of Whitby is a short drive across the beautiful North Yorkshire moors. It is famous for its connection with Bram Stoker the author of Dracula. It has quaint cobbled streets with quirky shops to explore. No visit is complete without trying the world famous fish and chips in the Magpie cafe. The market towns of Northallerton, Thirsk famous for James Herriot the vet, Ripon and Helmsley are a short drive away. They have cobbled market squares, delightful tea rooms and pubs serving great beers and food. The North Yorkshire Railway is a short drive from Stokesley. This famous railway has appeared on the Harry Potter Movies and the police drama Heartbeat. The historic city of York is easy accessible with a short drive on the A19. A pub for every day of the year, so the locals say! There is great shopping and loads of historic sites to visit. The Jorvik Viking centre is a must see attraction and has recently been re- imagined. Harrogate the spa town is close by and no visit would be complete without a visit to Bettys cafe and tea rooms. The fat Rascals are to die for. A little further away are the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. Well worth exploring if your time allows. There is free parking directly outside the cottage on a 'first come' basis. The Arriva service 28a from Middlesbrough every hour and the 81 from Marske Estate every hour. Abbott's of Leeming run services 80/89, which run every 2 Hours. Those routes operate 6 days a week towards Northallerton & Romanby via Osmotherley. Abbott’s also run a commercial X80 service between Northallerton and Middlesbrough via Stokesley. This service runs 3 times a day in both directions and operates Monday to Saturday. Nearest train station is Great Ayton which runs directly to stations along the picturesque NY Moors and to Whitby, 4 times a day. Middlesbrough Station runs services direct to York and Newcastle. Please note that there are two sets of stairs at the property, the stairs to the first floor are quite steep and wouldn’t be suitable for anyone with mobility problems. There are 2 bedrooms and they are located on the first and second floors. (just to bear in mind for those with small children). We supply a basket of logs enough for your first night at the cottage.
