Luxurious Home In Pedestrian-Only Medieval Hill Village

Enjoy all of the modern amenities in this stunning, renovated home located in one of the most beautiful hill villages in France. The home features a second-floor master suite with jetted tub, separate shower, double sinks, and a balcony from which the lights of Nice can be seen at night. The first floor has a bedroom with twin beds, a television room with foldout couch (not recommended for an adult), an office, a full bath with shower and double sinks, and an open floor plan kitchen/living area. The kitchen has a dishwasher, large refrigerator, coffee makers, microwave, oven, and stove-top and is fully equipped with cookware and dinnerware. The home also comes equipped with a washer and dryer, which are located in a separate 'cave.' The drive to Peillon is not for the faint of heart. Seven hairpin turns up a narrow roadway take you from the base of the hill to the top, where the village is located. Parking is at the foot of the village; one must walk up a cobblestone path into the village and to the home. The location is quiet and peaceful -- there is very little commercial activity in Peillon. The only establishments are a restaurant -- Les Plaisirs -- and an inn, with restaurant, called L'Auberge de la Madonne. The home is best suited to people who are looking for a holiday that combines quiet time with hikes up into the mountain, day trips, and rock-climbing. Another village, called Peille, is a 2-hour hike away; a trip to Peille for lunch makes for a wonderful day. From Peillon, a variety of trips is possible, including into Nice, where one may catch a train for day trips into Italy and elsewhere. Monaco, Monte Carlo, Cannes, Eze, Cap d'Antibes, St. Paul de Vence are all close by. Trips further out are possible within a day: Arles, Moustiers Sainte-Marie and the Gorges du Verdon, any number of vineyards, the Alps, the Var, Marseille. The beaches at St. Raphael are fantastic. Antibes, where Marineland is located, is a doable day trip for those with kids.
