Ashdown Cottage, two bedroom cottage

The accommodation consists of a well equipped kitchen-diner, cosy sitting room, two bedrooms and a bathroom. Close by is a quiet sitting area with a lock up shed for bikes etc. The large bedroom is spacious with a double bed and the second bedroom can be configured as a single or twin. A cot can be provided on request. Crisp cotton bed linen and towels are provided and heating and electric costs are included in the rental charge. We regret we are currently unable to accept pets. Ashdown Cottage provides no smoking, pet free accommodation in the centre of the Peak District village of Tideswell. It’s within a few minutes level walking access to local amenities including a bakery, butchers, green grocers, Co-op general store, post office, chemist, deli and several pubs and coffee shops. There are many wonderful walking trails from the village so you can easily leave the car outside the cottage for the duration of your holiday. If you really want to cut your carbon footprint Tideswell is served by buses from Sheffield, Chesterfield, Bakewell, Buxton and Castleton. Local buses can also take you to great walking opportunities, lovely villages and stately homes. The sitting room has two sofa’s, side tables, a cast iron electric stove and a bookcase. There is a 37″ TV, which has free view, and a DVD player. The fully equipped kitchen-diner has an electric oven with induction hob, fridge with freeze box, washing machine, toaster and a full set of cooking and dining equipment. We also provide tea, coffee, sugar and milk as well as kitchen and toilet rolls, washing up liquid, soap powder etc. The dining area has an oak table and 4 chairs and a butchers block with shelves. Inside the storage cupboard you will find ample coat hooks and a shoe rack as well as an iron and ironing board. The main bedroom has a double bed, bedside cabinets with lamps and a clock radio, wardrobe, chest of drawers, wicker chair and a large mirror. Above the chest of drawers are electric sockets for shaving and hair drying and a hair drier is provided. There is ample room for a cot which can be provided if required. The second bedroom contains a single bed , with another bed underneath, so it can be converted to a twin room if required. There is also a clothes hanging area, chest of drawers and a bedside cabinet with lamp and a clock radio. Please let us know when booking if you require one or two beds in this room. The bathroom has a bath with a shower above, folding shower screen, close coupled toilet and wash basin. The outside sitting area is accessed through the gate opposite the back door and contains a drying area, table and chairs and lock up shed. The shed is suitable for bike storage and has a bike rack with chains and a tool kit and pump. There is a barbecue provided. There is ample on and off street parking. The Fourteenth Century Church known as the Cathedral of the Peak is well worth a visit. Tideswell has a thriving range of local shops including, butchers, bakers, cafe’s, greengrocers, chemist, Post Office, Cherry Tree Takeaway and Co-op which is open from 7am to 10pm daily. We also have three public houses in the village, The Horse and Jockey, The George and The Star. Within a 15 minute walk of Tideswell you will find the Anchor Inn and the Red Lion at Litton. Each year we celebrate Wakes Week at the end of June. This features traditional Well Dressings and various events and processions throughout the week. Tideswell is an ideal base for walkers, bikers, climbers and sightseers. Please do not hesitate to ask us anything that may help make your stay more interesting and enjoyable.
