Nestled high in the beautiful Saddleworth hills, enjoy a taste of Tiny House living in a peaceful woodland setting all to yourself. If you’re looking for a bolt-hole, this is it! Although rural, the lodge is nearby to the picturesque villages of Uppermill, Diggle, Dobcross and Delph, all with essential amenities and transport links with the Peak District and Pennine hills on our doorstep. For singles, couples or young families (with one child under 12yrs). New dates now open to book from September till Jan 2022. Please note that all guests now self-check-in with minimal host contact, but I can always be reached via the Airbnb messenger or phone. UPDATE: Cleanliness and hygiene has always been a priority for all of our guests but in light of the current coronavirus situation, have taken the extra precautions to deep-clean between each booking. We operate an enhanced clean on every stay. There are plenty of cleaning products in the kitchen including anti-viral wipes and hand sanitiser. This means an extra hour of intensive cleaning and sanitising to ensure every inch of the lodge is sterile for your safety. Check-in is from 3pm. Please be reassured and safe in the knowledge that you will be completely separate from the family home (or anyone else!) There is even a guest entrance to the woodland area. Please read the listing description throughly before booking. *The lodge has a minimum two night stay* We have a lovely and unique tiny house experience in a woodland environment, especially when the light fades, you’ll feel like you’re in your own little bubble. It has all the facilities to make you feel comfortable and at home. A perfect opportunity to reconnect with nature and a peaceful place to relax and unwind in a secluded and private woodland setting. You will have total privacy and seclusion. Within 30 acres of privately owned land, it is a real retreat from the general noise and stresses of everyday life. You might just have the best night’s sleep you’ve ever had! All linens, towels, gowns and toiletries are included for your use. KITCHEN/DINING AREA🧑‍🍳 Table and stools, toaster, new mini-fridge with freezer compartment, microwave, kettle, tea/coffee/ hot chocolate, sugar/sweeteners etc. Cafetière, teapot, knife set, chopping boards, cutlery, crockery, glassware, bottle opener, cheese slicer, cheese grater, measuring jug, omelette and boiled egg maker. PLEASE NOTE THERE IS NO OVEN OR HOB. COOKING 🧑‍🍳 Microwave, airfryer (if you’ve never used one before, this will cook just about anything!) bbq pizza oven (which can be used over the firepit) and standard bbq. There are also some great places locally who do takeout or Just-eat will deliver to the cottage. BEDROOM 🛌 Plush double bed with new premium EVE mattress. Brand new 42” LG HD Smart TV and with some analogue channels and DVD player with a huge selection of movies. Samsung Bluetooth speaker. PLEASE NOTE - no WiFi. Why not log out for a while and enjoy real HD life in the countryside:) Help yourself to enjoy a wide selection of card and board games or books to read. With some of your favourite tunes on the Bluetooth speaker, cuddle up with a hot chocolate or glass of wine and enjoy a restful, cosy, lazy time in the woods 🥰🍷🎶 OUTDOORS There is a Weber bbq, new fire pit and seating on the outdoor deck area overlooking a stunning view of the valley. There’s also a picnic table for outdoor dining and a swing chair. WILDLIFE 🦔🐿🦅🦡 There are wild pheasants, partridges, pheasants, hares, rabbits, squirrels, badgers, hedgehogs, wood pigeons, kestrels, Red Kites, buzzards, Sparrow Hawks and owls who live and forage in the woods and surrounding areas. OUR ANIMALS 🐴🦆🐣🐏 We have our own flock of chickens and ducks who may join you for some breakfast entertainment 😊 During the Spring and Summer we hatch and raise new ducklings and chicks to keep things fun, guests are most welcome to meet them when they hatch. We have two cats, identical sisters- Bella and Indy. Bella will make her presence known to you before long and will expect plenty of attention from cabin guests! Please do ask her to leave if you’re not a cat person! Also we have a new pup, she’s super friendly but is always under our supervision. We also have sheep and our own horses in adjacent fields . Feel free to give the horses a pat but please don’t feed them as they are on a special diet. Also we ask guests not to enter the field with the horses. They are large, flighty animals and youngsters should be supervised by an adult at all times. If you’d like to meet our horses in the barn, please let me know and I’d be delighted to introduce you! The garden area around the Cottage is our family's private space and therefore not to be used by guests. However, guests are welcome to use the woods around the cabin and of course our other land surrounding it - please feel free to explore or ask me for great walks nearby. Guests can park their vehicles by the main house, in our secure gated driveway covered by CCTV and security lighting. We will provide as much or as little interaction as you like when you book a stay with us. Please just call or message if there’s anything you need. PLEASE do ‘check-in’ on the Airbnb app or website before arrival - this will give you the exact address, photos of the cottage where you’ll arrive and directions to our place. Located in a tiny and beautiful rural hamlet high in the Saddleworth hills. We are perfectly situated on the Pennine bridleway for cyclists, walkers and horse riders - a very popular choice for those travelling this amazing route. There are two delightful local pubs only 10 mins walk away- The Cross Keys Inn and the Church Inn, serving great pub grub and local ales. Comfortable seating, roaring fires and beer gardens. Proper Yorkshire hospitality! Its about a 25 min walk to Uppermill ( the largest village in Saddleworth). A lively village with lots of boutiques, gift shops, cafes, wine bars, pubs, restaurants and a great tourist information centre at the Saddleworth museum. To Diggle, it’s a 10 min walk down the hill to the village. There is a post office which supplies most essentials. There is a Tesco supermarket 10 mins drive away in Greenfield. 5/10 mins drive to surrounding villages. Diggle and Dobcross are nearest, both with post offices/shops with fantastic locally sourced produce. Both are within a pleasant 20 minute country walk. Uppermill is a 25 min walk to all the best restaurants, cafes, bars and shops that the area has to offer. A lively village on the weekend! Manchester City centre is 40 mins drive and Leeds and Sheffield are about an hour away. 10 mins drive to Greenfield train station. If you are staying for an extended period you may find your own transportation easier. However if not, essential amenities are in easy walking distance. Living here we are used to walking to the villages regularly and have had many guests who have arrived by public transport or cycle who haven’t found this a problem. We are high in the hills however, so please ask if you need more info. During your stay, please use the numerous bus/train timetables in the cabin if you need them. The buses run regularly from all the local villages. Manchester, Huddersfield and Leeds are accessible via regular train services from Greenfield train station (10 min drive). We can also recommend some beautiful walking/cycling/riding routes to the local villages and surrounding areas. A Weber BBQ is also available. Please bring some charcoal if you wish to use it. We have a fire pit for your use. Please bring your own wood/kindling/firelighters. Feel free to use dry deadwood in the woods for your 🔥
